My wife loves sushi - me, no thanks. But I am happy to dine at a restaurant that also serves Tempura. We found Sakura Sushi and I saw they did In fact have other choices besides sushi on their menu. We visited on a weeknight and were seated immediately. I liked the vibe and feel of the restaurant and the person who sat us was friendly.

After a few minutes we placed our order - I had the Tempura Dinner and my wife ordered the nightly special with Nigiri.

We both ordered a beer which arrived shortly after our order along with Miso Soup. It was a good Miso, with long strands of mushroom that I had not had before. The Tempura Dinner had 3 pieces of good sized Shrimp and a variety of battered and friend vegetables. My wife’s special had an assortment of Nigiri Sushi which she really enjoyed. Prices were reasonable given the portion size, flavor and service. I would happily return to Sakura Sushi for another meal.

Some of the best sushi I've had in Northern California. Love the chill atmosphere and the good service :-)

I ordered take out late, but they still took my order, I should’ve known it’d be good when my ubereats delivery driver said I made a great choice and that it was his favorite! Amazingly fresh delicious and beautiful! This was my first time ordering bc it is out of my normal area, I am house/puppy sitting and I was craving sushi. What a gem! Yum! Thank you!

The sushi was exceptional in both quality and flavor, while the service was adequately attentive. We had a good time with our party.

Sakura is a hidden gem! Their sushi is outstanding and the Miso soup with the tiny mushrooms is delicious. You are always "welcomed" when you walk in and checked on while eating, making sure you are well taken care of. Everyone I have brought there LOVES it!

This is a great place from the greeting you receive from the friendly staff, to their food recommendations, and my meal was delicious and beautiful. Try it out!

After many good experiences ordering sushi we decided to try their cooked meals. It was awful!! The chicken teriyaki as well as the donburi curry chicken were inedible. Tasteless as thrown together if in a roadside truck stop. From now on we will stick to their sushi and unfortunately begin looking for an alternative Japanese restaurant whose quality has not deteriorated.

The sushi was buttery soft and very fresh. Staff were helpful and attendant. This was our first time. We will return!

For years Sakura Sushi has been a favorite but in the last two visits the quality of the food has gone down and they seem to be understaffed.

My stomach is still in knots, the Romen broth was off and tasted terrible but the server didn't seem to care. I tried to put on a strong face for the family, it was $20 Romen. I regret everything about this visit. I paid our bill and left a nice tip but this dining experience sucked and I will never go back. Every other Sushi place I have tried in San Rafael is better.

Kid-friendliness: There is no kids menu and since the smallest plate you can image of a side is still $10, there are no good kid options. I left feeling nothing but regret for the whole experience... and an upset stomach.
