we came in right after 4 so their made to order section was closed but we picked up the burrata special, pesto pasta, and kale salad and everything was so fresh and amazing! both the person working the deli and katie in the other shop were so sweet and made us feel so welcome. will definitely come back when in the area again!

ps. the craft lemonade slushie is so good!

Hidden gem there across from Hearst Castle. There's a small deli in the store that is the polar opposite from the Hearst trap with good food, pleasant atmosphere, great staff and reasonable prices. Just up the road from the state park, they could have been priced much higher on the food items, and I was very pleasantly surprised! Highly recommended, give them a shot!

We stumbled upon Sebastian’s General Store on a whim while exploring San Simeon, just outside of Cambria—and what an incredible surprise! We were lucky enough to meet Karyn, who welcomed us with warmth and told us the food would be spectacular. She was absolutely right.

Everything we ordered was delicious—so much so that we came back two days in a row! From the fresh ingredients to the cozy, local vibe, this place stands out as a true gem on the Central Coast.

What really made Sebastian’s special, though, was Karyn. She’s not just an employee—she’s a phenomenal ambassador for the store. Her kindness, energy, and local knowledge turned a quick food stop into one of the highlights of our trip.

If you’re anywhere near Cambria or San Simeon, don’t miss this spot. Go for the food, stay for Karyn!

Nice place to grab a quick bite, that doesn't feel quick. I had an amazing caprese salad, family had sandwiches. We all sat outside to enjoy the views. Friendly service, was made to feel welcome the moment we walked in the door. Got a recommendation to come here from an attended at the Hearst Castle tour, glad I asked!!

To all my BIPOC out there, this is a safe spot. I forgot her name but the woman running the store was AMAZING! Sweet, kind, and made me feel like I was talking to family. Helped me pick out gifts and told me about other places to check out in the area.

The sandwiches are delicious but I highly recommend the steak sando. I’ve never had anything like it before or after. I also got an ice cream sandwich by a local creamery. The views are beautiful. Horses near by, the mountains on one side and beach close by. Eat your food and walk down to the beach or take em to eat down to the beach. A must stop on the 1 for me from now on.

yummy lunch! bring something to whip down all the bird poop on tables and chairs.
Not sure why the owners don’t frequently wipe down the bird poop on tables and chair, chairs or get decoys that keep the birds away from the patio area

Had the Californian sandwich which was incredibly fresh and delicious! Also had the seasonal salad with burrata which had an incredible balsamic dressing, candied pecans, and fresh fruit. Great place for lunch and will be back!

Delicious sandwiches, somewhat limited selection of bottled / can drinks and bagged chips

We always make this our go to stop in San Simeon for a gulf shrimp roll. The broccoli salad is also delicious. The small store features Hearst label on a variety of custom vinegar, oils, jams, mustards. Beachy decorator items and more.

OK sandwich shop convenient to Hearst Castle. Note: there are no burgers or fries or other made to order cooked foods—seems like that was the case in the past but definitely just sandwiches and prepared salads now. Nice patio.

We had a very long tiring trip through the mountains just to get to our lodge in Lucia because we had to avoid the landslide closure on Hwy 1. It was exhausting driving, then 2 hours at the Hearst Castle where you aren’t allowed to eat or drink anything. .. no coffee anywhere on our route… just to find out the castle cafe was closed when we got back from the tour. I said all that to say this.. The young man behind the counter was closing and the look on my face must have spoke to him because he quickly told me he would make us food and me an Americana.. first his kindness brought tears to my tired eyes and secondly that coffee was THE BEST I’ve had. The hot sandwiches and fresh salad were delicious and the portions were large. We took half of it back up the lodge to eat later. This one decision by him to accommodate me and my grandsons completely turned this stressful day into a much better one. The cafe and store were clean, bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. The staff were friendly and helpful and the area around the cafe and store is peaceful and attractive. Plenty of parking and the walkways were easy to navigate. I highly recommend this establishment and look forward to visiting again.

I try to make it here every time I visit, it's always fresh and both the lunch area employee and merchandise employee were very friendly.
