Beautiful bar. We had pork tacos which were meh at best, and ceviche which was very good, great tequila choices but very expensive for what you get. Not planning on returning.

My husband and I visited Augie’s on December 6, 2025, and I’m only writing this review now, but sometimes the experiences that stay with you the longest deserve to be shared, even later.

We found Augie’s while visiting Santa Barbara from Calgary, Canada. We had been walking from the beach side, tired and hungry, looking for a cozy place where my husband and I could sit down, relax, enjoy delicious food and spend some quality time together. The moment we walked in, everything started changing, the atmosphere was warm, with beautiful lighting and comfortable setting, it all immediately helped us unwind after a long walk.

A special thank you to our server, who was incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating! We had asked if we could move to a quieter table so my husband and I could talk, enjoy our evening together and simply slow down for a bit, and he kindly made that happen. We were truly grateful for that thoughtful gesture because it made our experience even more memorable.

The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We had a perfectly cooked salmon dish with delicious vegetables and a fresh, flavorful sauce that was amazing, and the other dish with tender chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce served with rice and vegetables that was rich, comforting and full of flavor. Every plate looked wonderful and tasted even better.

Another touch we really appreciated was Augie himself stopping by our table to ask how everything tasted. He was friendly, warm and genuinely made us feel welcome. Thanks, Augie!!!

Experiences like this are about much more than just food. It was the combination of delicious meals, wonderful service, and a cozy atmosphere that turned a simple dinner into a memorable evening for us. We loved it and would happily come back again whenever we are in Santa Barbara.

Chili verde is good. You’ll have to ask for extra sauce tho. Wife liked enchiladas, salsas and guac good. Only complaint was no one seemed to know what was going on. From front stand to waitress, it was slow and we just kept getting passed around.

We’ve been meaning to try Augie’s for awhile now and finally made it in. Really great Happy Hour with all kinds of options.

For drinks we had Noche de Moras & Cristo Rey (our favorite), then Beso de Verano & La Niña. Drinks were 10/10.

Food was Sopes de Cochinita (outstanding) & Taquitos de Papa, & ceviche to finish. Food was delicious as well!

Excellent & speedy service from Viktor & Juancho.

Can’t wait to be back!

I am a long time admirer, yet a first time diner at Augie's. It won't be my last!
We made an early Saturday reservation to experience, like many Santa Barbarans and visitors, the kicked back ambience of this large yet friendly restaurant.
I was drawn by the fresh local seafood and by the autentico cuisine of Guadalajara. I was not disappointed!
Our party was greeted by Augie's congenial manager and courteous waiter. We began with oversized starter plates of ceviche, and homemade flour chips with tasty guacamole. Yes, we each tried a different margarita to compare notes. Each was tasty and mellowing. The Augie's tequila is especial!
I chose a tender skirt steak for my entree. The serving was ample, so I took home a hefty portion with sides for yummy leftovers.
My dining mates shared that the mango salmon and pork entrees were equally tasty.
Dessert? Wonderful rice pudding and flan!
A top notch authentic Mexican eatery, with 300+ tequilas to choose from. Do give Augie's a go. You won't be disappointed.

We arrived and to fault of our own didn't have a reservation on a busy Saturday night. They were fully booked but since it was just us as a couple we took bar seating (which we typically dislike) Talk about the best decision!!! The bar has half the seats they could, thus your spread out and able to space from the next party. In addition, we had not only the BEST food we've had in the last two years living in Santa Barbara, but also the BEST service! The party of 4 next two is ordered several top shelf bottles and be had amazing service, but we ordered $7 drinks and had the same quality of top level service! This is what small business is about! Absolutely impressive and we'll be back & recommend to anyone in town!

I visited Augie’s of Santa Barbara and absolutely loved the vibe.

The interior is super stylish and cozy — such a cool place to hang out. I ordered a michelada and honestly it was the best one I’ve ever had.
Also the bartender was so fun and friendly, which made the whole experience even better.

Definitely recommend this spot if you’re in Santa Barbara ✨

Augie’s is hands down one of the best Mexican food spots I’ve ever experienced. Every dish was absolutely delicious and full of flavor.
The service was just as impressive from start to finish, everything was smooth and welcoming. Our server, “Charlotte” , truly stood out specially so kindly with my 10 years old. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had an amazing experience the entire time.
Highly recommend this place — great food, great service, and overall a fantastic experience!

Fantastic meal. Charlotte was a great server and Augie came by to ensure our meal was perfect (it was). Will definitely return next time we are in town. Red sauce on the chicken enchiladas was perfection - thanks for a fantastic meal!

Came here for a couple drinks while exploring State St. Great cocktails and crazy tequila selection! Super friendly bartenders and the owner Augie joined us for a chat and was a really nice guy! Had a great conversation with him. The Jalisco Old Fashioned was great! 🍸
