The Black Sheep brings together exceptional cuisine and a welcoming warm environment to create a perfect date night (or any night) experience. They have truly exceptional menu options, including a prixfixe menu (my fav)...they have wonderful service, and yummy wine and Cocktails.
Black Sheep was bustling when my spouse and I arrived due to a special event. We were seated in the back patio, which was quiet and relaxed. We were a bit afraid we might be ignored out back, but that fear was unfounded, as we were very well attended to all evening. The service was flawless. And the food, as always, was superb!
Had an amazing date night here with excellent, friendly service. Did the Chef's tasting menu which was a great value considering most dishes average $20-$30 each, and this gets you 4 courses with 2-3 dishes per course for $75/person. Food was gourmet and delicious - the braised beef cheeks were excellent. Overall vibe of the place is modern, chic, and relaxed. One thing we thought was odd (in a funny way) was the projector screen they have playing animated movies in the dining room. They played Ratatouille during our date and we've also seen them playing Kung Fu Panda 4 when we walked by (no sound though so it wasn't disruptive). Didn't bother us at all - in fact we're big Disney fans so we liked it - it's just kinda funny considering the otherwise very upscale ambiance. Overall would definitely recommend!
Noise level means... good when its a higher rating? not sure, but this restaurant is one of my favourites and love supporting a wonderful, hard working family who love pleasing their customers.
Chef's tasting was excellent with so many flavors working together. Service was spot on with a large adjacent party still allowing excellent service from beginning to end. The restaurant is a little noisy but not unbearable and very nicely appointed with wood refinished.
We had dinner here for our first visit, celebrating the 50th anniversary of when we met at UCSB, and they made it so very special, and the food was off the charts delicious. Better than a Michelin Star restaurant we had dinner at a couple years ago in LA.
An enjoyable dining experience from start to finish. We were greeted with a sparkling b-day surprise (cava w/lemon) and a diverse menu in a very pleasant environment. The highlights for us included a superb, multi-colored beet salad, an excellent hamachi appetizer, and quality wine. Our main courses were a junior chicken and mash, which was very good comfort food on a rainy night, and the fish of the day. The latter dish was tasty, including farro and a rare sous vide salmon -- but the fish portion was a tad tiny for the price... Service was on point, and we also enjoyed a brief check-in by the owners. We will return, thx!
Black Sheep is a lovely restaurant. Service from Ruben was excellent. Knowledgeable and charming. Food was quite good . Bar was excellent.
Great food, great service!
Love our dinners at Black Sheep! The apero menu is so delicious and great value. Ruben and his staff take great care of their guests. Will go back again soon!

If you've been to Paris, then you'd classify the Black Sheep as a very good bistro type of restaurant, with creativity in its menu. Everything was excellent. One of our favorite restaurants.
We went for my wife's birthday and had our 11 year old with us. They took very good care of us and the food was excellent.
The Black Sheep is nice for a romantic dinner. My Wife wanted to try something different this evening, so we went ordered the course dinner. It was family style so the portions were generous for a course meal. We asked for no seafood and they made it happen. Asia, our waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The food here is amazing. With the course meal, you get pretty much a good sample of the menu. We had a little issue with the plates having a little bit of an odor but they swapped it out for us no problem. Ruben the owner came by, greeted us and apologized for the issue. He came by and gave us some complimentary non alcoholic drinks that was great. My Wife still talks about how great the food was after a week later. Thank you Ruben & Asia for making our first visit to Santa Barbara a pleasant time. Definitely will come back when we're back in town.

Logan is the best, he did recommended a beautiful Vouvray that paired excellent with our food, which was also superb.
We come a lot to Santa Barbara for weekend get away. My hubby found this restaurant while visiting there. Staffs were nice, we got the Chef’s tasting menu and we were stuffed. Cozy ambiance, food was very good and tasty. We Uber there so I wasn’t paying attention with the parking area. We made rsvp so we didn’t wait for a table.
