Excellent takeout. We ordered over $100 worth of food and it was all great. Chick teriyaki was good quality and arrived hot. All the rolls were fresh and made well. The service was top notch. They listened to all the special requests. We will order again.

The food was so-so. The service was terrible. We were pushed to order and then the food all came at once very fast. The staff was talking to each other so loud we could not easily carry on our conversation. The sushi chef, situated in the center of the restaurant, coughed throughout our time there. Even after we made mention of it, he did not put on a mask. I would never eat here again nor recommend it to anyone.

First and last time visiting Ichiban. Sat on patio with my cousin for the lunch special and enjoyed their food. The portions and prices were substantial, however the service was sadly disappointing. Served by a woman with a rude demeanor that had little to no manners. I never got her name but my guest and I felt so awkward because of the attitude she had during our visit.By the end of lunch bill comes & we pay cash. Unfortunately she did not return full amount of change so we asked for a reprint of our bill. (Gratuity is not included) Upon asking for correct change she remained to be rude, now laughing and rolling her eyes while asking how much I will tip her ??? unhinged behavior to say the least

My first time at Ichiban Sushi today...we ordered the lunch specials- salmon teriyaki and tempura & udon tempura and California rolls. Also ordered the green tea ice cream. Everything was delicious and service was attentive. Parking available behind the restaurant. Will definitely come back again and try other items on the menu.

First time here was so wonderful. Fish could not be fresher and tastier, wonderful fast & friendly service :) We sat at the bar. Our three year old little girl loved the little taste of salmon she tried and loudly said "more salmon!" (We quickly corrected her and told her to say please.) But sweet man handed her a tiny plate of fresh salmon, without even charging. Such a sweet gesture. Thank you Jackie for the wonderful sushi and Andy for nice conversation. Didn't get the name of the girl who greeted and sat us but she was equally lovely.

Not sure why the place doesn't have higher ratings. It's really good. It's conveniently located on the mesa on cliff drive. Their sushi is really good. I would say this is a top 5 place for sushi in Santa Barbara. Their california rolls are good, so are the spider and crunchy rolls. The atmosphere may not be the best as it is a little plain, but the food is good. Well worth it. I would give them a try if you're on the mesa.Parking: Lots of parking on the mesa

There are plenty of sushi places in Santa Barbara but this is perhaps the most accessible such place for the Mesa neighborhood. Cozy, pleasing interior and reasonably priced menu make this a reliable favorite. Sashimi is always fresh and tasty here.Kid-friendliness: Kids should be fine here.Parking: Large parking lot in back, limited on-street parking in front.

Food, service and ambiance was excellent!! Had soup, sushi and calamari! Yummy! Totally recommend it. They also have cute tables that you can sit on the floor.

Great spot for lunch and dinner, affordable and good sushi and service. Ichiban by far has the best sushi lunch specials! Quick friendly service and can be in and out within 45 minutes.

Food was great ! Always fresh, super tasty. Wine was crisp and perfect for Sushi! The only problem I had was server making sure I ordered food by 8:40-8:45,They closed at 9:00, a couple walked in at 8:45 and were told they were closed. It was a rushed experience and I all kept thinking was staff wants to get the hell out, then so did I. I still tipped nice because people have to be paid!

Ichiban has decent lunch specials and quality fish. The service staff was a little overworked, causing service to be slow. However, our waiter was friendly, and my group wasn't in a hurry, so we didn't mind. But I would not recommend heading in for a quick bite.I would eat here again if I return and I'm not grabbing grub on State street.
