Hassle-Free, Relaxing Dining
We moved to the neighborhood on Valentines Day 2026, and Ichiban quickly became one of our new local favorites. It's laid-back, welcoming, and a refreshing change from the bougie Coast Village Road dining scene.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The california roll and the teriyaki salmon weren’t terrible, but it was bland and lacked much flavor at all. Tasted fresh, but wasn’t very memorable. The cucumber salad and miso soup were good though. Overall, not too bad for the price. Also, the atmosphere was cute. This would be a good place to take the family out for sushi as the prices weren’t bad, there was plenty of seating, and the staff was nice.
Very fresh and reasonable price! All the sashimi in the combination are classic types so it's really a good choice, and the sweet shrimp as an add on makes the whole picture of a good sashimi dinner! The rolls and the fried soft shell crab were also very good! Also their water seemed to be filtered and doesn't have the typical tap water taste so it's really nice. A very good dinner indeed!!

Ichiban Sushi is a top spot in SB for fantastic meals with the freshest fish. Customers recommend the toro and yellowtail nigiri, miso soup, and hot sake. The excellent takeout service offers great quality food, like chicken teriyaki and fresh rolls. Lunch specials like salmon teriyaki, tempura, and udon are delicious, with friendly and attentive service. Customers love the green tea ice cream and plan to return for more menu items.

Ichiban Sushi is a true locals restaurant around for decades, offering a large menu with offerings for all tastes. The menu has awesome lunch and dinner specials with great value, consistent quality, and good quantity. The helpful and polite service from the owner, chef, and servers is appreciated. Customers can enjoy delicious mushroom appetizers and various seating arrangements outside, indoors, and at tables with cushioned seating requiring the removal of footwear.
