Tried this place during our stay in SB this past summer. I had their special that was a beautiful roasted chicken with rosemary potatoes and a salad with balsamic and some oil. My boyfriend ordered their steak with rosemary mashed potatoes and spinach. My chicken was flavorful, light, citrusy and tender. I usually don't care for side salads but this salad had fresh greens, and some vegetables that were delightfully soaked in a balsamic and oil, not sure what oil but gosh it was so flavorful, I ate it faster than any side salad I ever had. I also had a bite of my boyfriend's steak and it was juicy, tender and rich in a delightful sauce. A wonderful experience that I hope to taste again

Chicken seems such an easy dish to make.....but its also easy to make it bad. Not this spot...I had the best chicken of my life last night...simple and delicious......we also had a lovely starter...and an amazing dessert. Do not walk by this spot.... go in and enjoy and spread the word. Too many choices in SB make this one of yours.

Roost's interior has been renovated recently in fresh and clean classic design with comfortable seating. The menu is compact but covers all the basic proteins. The food we had was rich in flavor and perfectly prepared. I ordered the Stuffed Pacilla Chile and was pleasantly surprised how well it satisfied me and how the grits complemented the shrimp stuffing. A glass of Rose from Provence was a perfect pairing for this light and creamy dish. Upon request it could be prepared vegetarian or with chicken.

Amazing restaurant! It has a very cozy ambiance and the food is excellent. Everything that we ate was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and the chicken was excellent. Both of our main dishes came with seasonal vegetables, and it seems that the vegetables change depending on what the chef brings in from the weekly farmers market. The owner is incredibly friendly and informative, and as another reviewer stated attentive without being intrusive. We finished the meal with shortbread cookies and lemon curd -- we were so full but it was so worth it. I highly recommend Roost!

Absolutely delicious!! Props to the chef for flavor and presentation. My husband and I came here for dinner and we where greeted right away. The employees where very attentive and wonderful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. And to top it all off the food is excellent. The steak was seasoned to perfection and the salmon and veggies fill your mouth with flavor. Thank you Roost :)

This is a little gem of a restaurant, well worth the visit. The owners are focused on making sure that every diner has a splendid experience. They are very attentive without being intrusive. What we especially appreciated was that virtually every wine on the small but thoughtful wine list was available by either the glass or bottle, which allowed us to each enjoy our favorite choices, and pair each entree with its own wine. We were debating between the pimento cheese and escalavida for an appetizer. We asked our server, who suggested that we opt for the shrimp quesadilla unless one of us was going to order the stuffed pasilla chile. We were awfully happy we took her advice; the quesadilla was cooked perfectly and wonderfully delicious. My wife opted for the rotisserie chicken, which, while well prepared (including being deboned), was only made remarkable by the sauce. The buttermilk mashed potatoes were good, but not much better than she makes at home (granted, she is an excellent cook!). I went with the braised pork roulade, which was extraordinary. Great sear, tender and tasty. I practically licked my plate clean. We were going to pass on dessert, although when our server informed us that there was apple & pecan bread pudding, we changed our minds. Glad we did. It was quite tasty. If you live in Santa Barbara, you should frequent this place. If you visit, make sure to include it on your list of dinner destinations.

We had a memorable dinner at Roost last night. Two of us had salads and the third had the pasta. We all tried the chicken soup and it was fabulous! Everything was fresh and delicious. It's a small menu but there is something for everyone. We moved here three months ago and are trying out all the restaurants Santa Barbara has to offer and Roost will be at the top of our list to return to again and again.
