“This spot is a true hidden gem in Santa Clara. It’s a family-owned grocery store with a small restaurant section on the side — but once you try the combo plate, you’ll understand why I'm writing this review. The portions are generous, the meat quality is excellent, and the flavor profile with the brown rice is genuinely impressive. The beef is slow cooked in some kind of garlic or marinated in it or something...it's so delicious. The chicken is soft and breaks apart easily, the beef kabob is big and filled with flavor. I do wish there was a yogurt or sauce option to balance it out, though that may not be traditional.

The owner’s son is extremely friendly and helpful, and they even offer complimentary tea (Sadaf/Ahmad tea bags with hot water). A lot of people come here just for the fresh bread, which they sell in huge quantities at amazingly low prices. The butcher is a practicing Muslim who prays five times a day, and you can feel the sincerity in how they run the place.

Overall, this restaurant is one of the best food options in the area. I come here twice a week — amazing spot.“

“I had never tried Afghan food until my partner introduced me to this place, and it completely blew my expectations. My partner and I constantly come back to this place when we visit San Jose. The owner is incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely cares about the customers — you can really feel it in the service. The food is absolutely delicious, with extremely generous portions at such affordable prices. We always order the lamb shank, and it was tender, flavorful, and only around $20, which is a steal compared to other Bay Area restaurants that would easily charge $50 or more for something similar. This is a family-owned restaurant that puts real pride and heart into their food and hospitality. Highly recommend!“
