Absolutely extraordinary experience at Mastro's San Francisco! The food was spectacular - every dish beautifully presented with incredible flavors. The live music and stunning restaurant design created the perfect atmosphere for a special night out. What truly made this evening exceptional was the outstanding hospitality we received. Our server Joe was fantastic - attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure every detail of our dining experience was perfect. We were also fortunate to receive a personal tour from Brian Petersen, the sommelier and manager, who shared fascinating insights about this beautiful location that he helped open. His expertise with wine pairings was impressive, but what stood out most was watching him connect genuinely with guests throughout the evening - educational, entertaining, and creating memorable experiences for everyone. The combination of world-class cuisine, elegant ambiance, and exceptional service from both Joe and Brian made this a night we'll always remember. You can tell this entire team is passionate about what they do, and it shows in every detail. Highly recommend for any special occasion! Thank you Joe and Brian for making us feel so welcomed and for showcasing what exceptional hospitality looks like.
We made last minute reservations and we are glad that we did. The service was great, very attentive and always asked how we were doing and if we needed anything. The food was delicious, will definitely return.
We saved up our gift cards from our children so we could enjoy a wonderful culinary experience. And it was truly enjoyable. We got the confirming phone call asking us if we knew about the dress code - we did not. Thank goodness I didn't wear a hoodie, baseball cap, sports jersey to this fancy place. And I made sure my clothes did not have offensive odors. (these are specifically listed online for the dress code and more!) We were seemingly they only ones that followed the dress code. Can't say no to the many overheated tourists who came in with their shorts and credit cards. We were greeted by George who recommended an excellent starter drink. I had the Dream Berry Martini and it was the best drink I had in a long time. It was served with dry ice which made the drink very dramatic and delicious! My parther had the Lavender Collins which he also truly enjoyed. The drinks were large enough to last through the whole meal, we didn't even order wine with the dinner. We had many checks by George and the manager who wanted to make sure we were having a delightful time. We then had the Tuna Garlic Sashimi for an appetizer. I had the double pork chop entree and my partner had the Bone In Rib Eye 22 oz. If I had to do it over, I would get the Rib Eye. The pork chops were delicious and more like a roasted texture. We ordered Garlic Mash Potatoes and Asparagus as our sides. The garlic mash potatoes were so creamy and melted in my mouth. They have a delicious selection of bread served at the table. For dessert we splurged and had the Hot Espresso Mousse Cake served with berries and an accompanying big bowl of fresh whipped cream. My partner had the Chocolate Sin Cake. Both were excellent! Overall, a fun and enjoyable experience and will save up our gift cards for next year!
We love coming to Mastros for special occasions. They service, food and atmosphere are exceptional.
We started at the bar with a cocktail. We enjoyed the Martini and the Mai Tai. The pianist had the most beautiful voice, which added the the great atmosphere. After being given our choice between two open tables, we were greeted by Rushawn, our waiter for the evening. He was outstanding. He walked us through every part of the menu, answering all our questions. He and his support staff were always there when we needed one of them, but didn't feel like they were bothering us or in our way. The food was great, but the service is what will bring us back.
Oysters, Onion Soup, Pork, Swordfish, Garlic Mash Potatoes and Bread were all very tasty. We told them we were celebrating our anniversary and they had that printed on our menus please provided a no charge dessert. Wait staff was attentive and on top of things with good recommendations. We enjoyed it.
The whole team was very organized. Water was always filled when low without asking. We came in to celebrate my son’s birthday. The waitress made the espresso martini at the table. Food was scooped for us. It was a different experience feels luxurious. The tomahawk was cooked to perfection crisp and smooth well. The truffled mushrooms were so good paired with the meat. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
This is one of my favorite steak restaurants now. Im not a foodie but I keep on thinking about how great their tomahawk is. I love the atmosphere and the service was great. My wife and I came in for a casual lunch on a Saturday and I like how relaxing it was after coming from busy valleyfair shopping. I like how they have the live piano player which really adds to the experience!
Food is great we went with my husband and mom to celebrate mother's day and the buffet was amazing, all the food fresh and delicious! Compleatly worth it!
Great experience & great food! Our server, Robert, was a great vibe & was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. He gave us recommendations which did not disappoint

We finally got to dine here with friends for dinner. The food was fantastic. Steaks were cooked perfectly to order. The chef was also accommodating for our fish order as well as side orders for dietary requirements. The sides were large enough to share. Service was great with a fantastic attitude from all of the staff. All of this quality comes at a cost which I expected, but it was very easy to run up the tab for 4 people.
I’ve had a lot of ribeye steaks and I felt this one had a lot more fat than usual. I ended up with a 3 inch pile of fat. This doesn’t include the fat I accidentally ate because it was too dark to trim the steak.
The key lime pie was also way too dense. It reminded me of a cheesecake. Also so much sugar you could taste it.
Warning that they will charge you for water! Overall, not worth the money.
We arrived here on Friday night, and they told us the dress code when reservation. I wore a long skirt, but when I opened the door, I saw a family wearing sweatpants and slip-on shoes.
The atmosphere was pretty good, with live music and a modern bar.
I was looking forward to the food but I can only sigh because I was disappointed. We ordered 6 oz fillet $54, dry aged ribeye $89, and side dishes $16 each. My fillet was too dry and had a bad texture. Among the side dishes, only the wild mushrooms were good. The others like Brussels sprout were too dry, and the spinach and mashed potatoes were very ordinary. We brought a bottle of wine, corkage fee $50.
Not sure if we will come back again .
Literally the best restaurant experience i’ve ever had in my life. I am usually not this definitive with anything but this is undeniably so. I had the best steak of my ENTIRE life which was theJapanese A5 wagyu. The service was absolutely incredible. For many restaurants i’ve noticed that they don’t prioritize or treat young people very well, maybe that’s because we don’t appear to have as much money as the older people but that was not the case here. I felt like a king dining here it was awesome. Atmosphere is very classy and elegant. It was me and my girlfriends two year anniversary and they gave us custom menus with a special message as well as complimentary dessert. It was a very special meal. If you have more money to spend for a special occasion this place is where you want to be.
Been to 15 countries, had burgers and steaks in each one. Somehow the steaks here beat them all, as well as anything I've made myself. Plus the drink selections and variety complement everything perfectly.
