As a Chef in Texas for many years this place is really good. Now I have taken my talent and I have restaurant consulting business. Anyhow I visited SCV few days ago. The portions are just right, you get the bang for your buck. After reading reviews and some people saying portions are small, they are not. Operating cost food cost has gone up. The red snapper I ordered was perfect!...not too greasy. I appreciate the portions and don't mind paying a bit more for things when I know it is good quality and taste good. I'm from the mid west and it is hard to find any place that compares to the black businesses in my old community where they fry fish and chicken. This is the closest to the taste of home. I will definitely be coming back!

Something this city was missing is some good Soul Food. This place fills that need! Some of you might be familiar with rapper Blueface, he is the owner of this spot. It also goes by the name Blue's Fish & Soul but the sign said SCV Fish Market so don't let that confuse you.
