11-9-24: Delicious quality food at excellent prices with a fun casual vibe! Food taste beat my expectations and they seem highly sensitive to diner’s needs. Picnic table self service seating. You’ll need a code to get in the restroom. There were 7 in line ahead of us but it moved along 2-3 minutes each. Don’t tell anyone—especially tourists.

I’ve driven by this spot a lot and always thought like it looked really cool and had great reviews, however this spot was a bit confusing to eat at. If you’re expecting some msg greasy chinese food and noodles this is not the place to eat at. I went here with my girlfriend and we got the Chow Mein and Spicy Dan, and what we got definitely didn’t seem to match our expectations.

The noodles were more reminiscent of spaghetti and the sauce was like creamy and not too flavorful, we felt like we had gotten some weird pasta rather than asian food. I’m not a picky eater and will eat almost anything, but this is the one time where I didn’t feel like eating my leftovers. My gf couldn’t hand off her leftovers to her roommates either. The Chicken was solid at least although it reminded me of green mole rather than curry and ginger lemonade was good.

I’m kind of confused about the really high ratings since the food isn’t really what’s expected, but I guess if you’re vegan and haven’t had much exposure to asian food due to your diet it could come off as really good. So if you’re vegan and tight on options I recommend I suppose, but if you’re not go somewhere else. At least it tasted fresh and you feel healthy after. Maybe the rice bowl or sandwich would’ve been better, but like I was incredibly disappointed and we both wished we had gone to another spot.

Is it the best thing I’ve ever tasted? No. Is it pretty delicious while being moderately healthy and cheap? Yes! For more flavor be sure to use the teriyaki and chili sauces. Otherwise this is an excellent choice for a quick and healthy sub $15 meal.

This place is just so Santa Cruz – you can’t really call what they have indoor seating (see picture), but you can see the food is prepared with love and joy, and it is healthy, delicious and fresh. It's become a favorite with me and my family.

Vegetarian options: I recommend the Spicy Garlic Tofu Dan Dan bowl.

I left Santa Cruz seven years ago in 2017. Since then I've lived in two other states, been in three relationships, started and quit grad school, and I STILL THINK ABOUT Charlie Hong Kong. Like it's up there with all the rest of my memories, flavoring my human experience. I write this from my nyc apartment, gazing over some TJ's noodles and yearning for a bowl of genuine CHK noodles. If you take anything from my tale of woe, please take my advice to enjoy a biiiiig bowl of anything from here.
Sincerely,
3000 Miles Away :'(

This place was suggested by a workfriend. We stopped by around 3:20pm. The person who took our order was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable about the business. The person who served our food was kind and quick! The atmosphere was OK, tables were clean, shady parts offered a cool place to sit.

I ordered the chicken teriyaki rice bowl with an add on of the vegetable medley. The chicken was good, flavor was good, chicken was moist! One gripe was that the vegetables were very bland, but that's OK because they offer a spicy sauce and housing sauce as well as salt, pepper, and soy sauce! I used the spicy sauce, it's flavorful and the right ammount of spice!

My partner ordered the green curry chicken rice bowl, although I wasn't much of a fan of it he said it was yummy and filling.

Our final verdict was it was a good but not as amazing as we hoped it to be. A great place to stop for good tasting veggies, with vegan & vegetarian options!

Vegetarian options: Additional Vegan options, tofu, veggies and sauces!

I drive past this place all the time when working In Santa Cruz. It's a small quaint drive in. It's vegetarian/vegan place or friendly place. They have 4 styles rice bowl, noodles bowl, soups and sandwiches. All with the same proteins. It's not great but it's good for being what it is. Prices are fair but I will say 5 dollars for a side of broccoli is a little over Priced. I would eat here again or take my vegan friends here. Worth a try if ur in the area

A cool healthy establishment with no pretense. I enjoyed the salmon bowl and a vegan chocolate chip cookie. The menu is loaded with vegan and gluten free options.

Dining is outside only but it is enclosed with a roof.

Parking: If it's meal hour the approximately 8 parking spaces could be full. If it is, there is free street parking which usually is enough.

Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair access from both ends of the restaurant.

I love the food...but paying 15 bucks for a Tofu bowl ( with rice, jalapeños) which tastes great) I'm done...unfortunately...the issue is I'm not FULL...used to go twice a week...Don't really care about the price BUT, if I can't get full on 1 bowl...what's the point in returning? Too bad...Ingredients are pretty cheap, just not enough to fill a normal person....
