We just had the worst experience at a restaurant we've ever had. We decided to go to Mackenzies Bar & Grill for the awesome views and food we've heard about. As we were walking back to our vehicle after lunch about 150 yards up the road, the Food and Beverage Manager, Cami Eder, rushed up next to us in a golf cart and stopped us, we were concerned because she seemed frantic. Cami Eder then asked us if our food was alright because we didn't leave a tip for the waitress. I let her know that we left a tip in cash, she then interrupted and said the tip we left wasn't as high as she thought it should be. She then drove off in her golf cart back to the restaurant. She actually chased us down the street in a golf cart to confront us at our car about how she believes we needed to leave the waitress a higher tip. We were both very upset and felt discriminated against and harrassed because Cami Eder felt we had to leave a tip for the waitress as high as Cami thinks it should be. We needed to speak to a manager about our terrible experience interacting with Cami Eder so we went back to the restaurant to speak with a manager. We ended up speaking to Cami Eder again at the restaurant and explained how insulting and negative it was to harrass paying customers because she didnt think the tip for the waitress was as high as Cami thought it should be. Cami Eder then began to get defensive and raise her voice about how she was correct and it turned out she wasn't interested in our experience at all, but was rather more interested in her waitress getting a higher tip as Cami said, "I'm looking out for my girl (the waitress) she has to make money too." I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior especially at a nice golf course. At this point we realized we weren't dealing with a professional or even someone who cherished working at such a luxurious golf course, so we asked to speak to someone above her in management. Josh Christenson, Food and Beverage Director, came and spoke to us and we received a simple apology. We could sense by speaking with Chris that he wasn't taking us seriously so we requested to speak with the general manager of Mackenzies. We ended up having to text Chris mobile phone in order to request to get the general managers information. We asked Chris when the general manager is working next so we can speak to him directly and received a text from Chris saying, "he doesn't have a schedule. When you email him he can let you know." I left a voicemail and am waiting for a reply. My fiance and I feel very discriminated against and felt harrassed by Cami Eder, who only wanted her waitress friend to get a higher tip. I highly recommend new management at this beautiful location because the manager Cami Eder clearly has zero interest in hospitality or treating paying guests with respect. Do not visit Mackenzies Bar &Grill it was a terrible experience

Located inside the Pasatiempo golf course building this is a roomy, clean restaurant with a bar and good views of the golf course.They have a small breakfast menu and all the options are inexpensive for this area, around $12. I had a mushroom cheese scramble with their home style potatoes and coffee. The scramble was fine though the flavors were mild for my taste. The potatoes were disappointing, soft inside but almost leathery on the outside, I think they had sat too long in a warmer. The coffee was not good, again I don't think it was fresh, that it had sat in a pot.Service was good, not too invasive however they checked in regularly.This is a place if you're into golf and want a bite afterwards. There are too many really great breakfast spots in Santa Cruz for me to return.

We had a very disappointing Taco Tuesday night at the restaurant. We’ve been several times and it’s been fine but I think they changed the portion sizes and it was terrible. The tacos were so incredibly tiny you could eat it in one bite. Very disappointing. They also lacked flavor and had hardly anything on them.I also found some type of hair or plastic in the salsa. Overall the food was terrible and a really bad deal for portion size.Service was kind though, that was the only highlight.

Club sandwich (added avocado) was very good. Onion rings were done perfectly and Arnold Palmer was very good. Ignored at the reception desk for awhile but after that service was fine.

Lovely and refined and relaxing. Went to MacKenzie's on Christmas Eve morning for a late breakfast. Beautiful view of the golf course. Started out with a Bloody Mary - not as spicy as I liked and bartender was glad to add more tabasco sauce. Tomato Bisque soup was one of the best I have ever had. Club sandwich was really good, too.

New menu sub par food. I wish they would bring back the old menu. Also I've always had good service before. Not anymore. Seems everything has taken a turn for the worse. I hope Hollins house is not affected. I have always enjoyed their food and service.

This restaurant came highly recommended, and the food was decent. We sat outside and had 3 different waiters. Our appetizer came out with our entrees, had to ask fir water and silverware and napkins. Was just hoping to feel more attended to- will give them another chance, but we were disappointed- could've been so much better...
