Pono Hawaiian Kitchen & Tap offers a friendly atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating, much of it shaded. The restaurant features large, tasty portions, with the chicken katsu being a highlight. The Kai-Bi Short Rib plate, Pono Burger, and Mahi Mahi plate are also popular choices. The Kalua Pork is delicious, especially in the quesadilla, and the Mahi-mahi katsu in the taco is very good. The poke is enjoyable and worth trying again. The staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful, creating a welcoming environment. Live music adds to the experience, and if Rick plays his ukulele again, many will return for more. The restaurant also has a small kids play area in the front patio. Although there is a slight smell of mildew, it remains a go-to spot for delicious food, with fresh veggies and salads complementing the meals. The restaurant is easy to find with plenty of parking in the back, and orders are placed at the counter with food brought out to guests.
