Great tacos and staff!there used to be a taco truck here with outdoor seating, the reviews complaining about the tip charges are talking about them.

The food is great, 5 star in fact. However, my friend paid by debit card and later discovered that they had charged her a $4.66 tip without her consent. On top of that, they signed the receipt on her behalf (not a signature but a squiggly line). They never asked for my friend to sign the receipt which I thought was odd at the time.We checked and double checked what the total should have been including the tax and still they charged us too much. Tips are optional and at the customers discretion. Merchants should not assume they will receive a tip from a customer. Highly recommend the food and the prices are okay too but this experience left a sour taste in the mouth (pun intended). If you go, pay cash so you don't get ripped off. They have a tip jar for cash tips if you feel like giving one.Oh and when you see the charge on your statement it shows as 'Angeline's Hot Dogs'. Interesting.

Food was tasty and decent prices so I thought... I was automatically charged a tip. I wasn't given a total which was odd, she handed my card right back and I didnt think anything of it. Later going through my charges I realized I was overcharged and a tip was added that I didnt agree to. It was 3.54 dollar tip, easily missed. Makes me wonder how many other people are getting ripe off without knowing.

It was OK. I would eat there again I guess as there is not a lot of other options in this area. I cant complain about the service. The food was just ok. Not overpriced and it was a decent value.

Stopped in here for lunch with a group of friends. I ordered the flautas while others had the burrito bowl or street tacos. The food was very good and the service was quick, attentive, and professional. This is not a "fancy" restaurant but the food is fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the meal and will definitely return on my next visit. I recommend you try this restaurant.

Looking for something fancy or sophisticated? Rico's is NOT your place! But it is very good for down-to-earth, utterly casual, authentic Mexican fare. It has been a local favorite for many years, and for good reason. It matches the community: country casual and working class. Nothing fancy, for sure; this is not a place you'd get dressed up for. Blue jeans, boots, and a plaid shirt are typical. As such, don't expect attentive professional waiters, nor punctuality, nor classy furnishings, nor elaborate presentation. But do expect delicious, well prepared Mexican dishes made and served by an authentic Mexican family. Do expect a lot of friendliness and charm. Do expect plentiful servings at very reasonable prices. And, do expect to be very satisfied. The menu is mostly typical: burritos, enchiladas, tamales, etc., but with a few unique "specialties of the house." They even serve home-made horchata: one of my personal measures of authenticity! Everything is made to order, so you can have anything the way you want it. But, since this takes time, don't expect "fast food" speed, so typical of many Mexican restaurants. Be casual; don't be in a rush (to take your order, be served, to get your check, or to leave). And - yes - it is a truly family business: you are as likely to be served by a 10-year-old Niña as by a 60-something Tia or Abuela. All-in-all, just what a country cafe is all about!

While this isn't the greatest Mexican restaurant, everything is fresh, made in house and really good. The salsa and chips were great. I had the chicken enchiladas with mole and they were lovely. They do chicken a number of ways and I had the grilled chicken which was accented with cumin which complemented the grilling. My wife had the chile and cheese tamales. they were made in house and unreal. She was amazed to find a dish like this in Portola which has very limited dining options. We will definitely come back!

By far the best Mexican Food fast. No worries of long waiting times. At Rico’s you get great food great service at a great location. By far my favorite place for an evening bite.

Rico's Mexican Food has a full menu, everything looks good, and what we ordered was delicious and plenty. There were several tables of diners, and the whole time we were there a steady stream of local folks kept coming for take-out. They have beer by the bottle. Look for it on Portola's main street (Hwy 70) in the middle of the town.

They were easily overwhelmed by a large order so our experience was less than ideal. My wife didn't quite get everything she ordered and it took forever. I'm not sure I would go back
