Pretty cool little basement spot! Had a hard time finding it and went to the spot upstairs for a drink then went down at 5 when they opened. I'm glad we did! It got packed fast but the chocolate martini was TO DIE FOR. My husband had the old fashions with the smoke and it was amazing. We will definitely be back! The bartender was really nice as well!!

A great hotel. Clean. Well priced. Free internet. The showers are not great. The water pressure is weak. Rather annoying.

The outside looked nice, but inside was very run down. In need of lots of repairs for the walls, carpet, baseboards. A picture outside the elevator had cracked glass. The bathrooms look like what you'd get with an older motel. Visible hairs left behind and splatters on several doors from something (cleaning supplies hopefully). The room itself was ok. The ac unit was cracked and very loud. The hallway had a strong odor. Could hear conversations from the parking lot in the room, as well as a dog barking in a nearby room. Definitely spend your money elsewhere.

Dirty. Disgusting. Basically the two words to describe this awful hotel. The room was called “Bob Hope”. More like no hope! Absolutely filthy. Completely grubby room. Dusty. What looked like a blood splatter above the bed. Fingernail marks in the headboard. Mould in the bathroom. And an absolute stench in the closet. Requested another room and the reception staff clearly surprised when we said it was unfit to be stayed in. New room had toenails in the bed and a hole in the bathroom ceiling. Promptly left at 6am!

I have stayed in both the original older rooms and most recently in the "newer" section. The room was clean but clearly dated. I was given a corner room with exceptional light; however, since I was on a business trip it was not something I could enjoy. downside was a distinct odor of marijuana on my arrival at 9:30 PM. It was still present when I returned at 11:00 to check out. Strange. Also, there are no restaurant services available though you can get unlimited coffee packets for the room. I would recommend adding microwaves in addition to the small refrigerator. Also, a remote thermostat separate from the through-wall unit would be more responsive to temperature. All in all, though, a great value; I paid $110 including tax, midweek, one day.

I went there with two (2) others on a golf outing. At check-in, they sent my 1st friend in one direction, and when I checked in, they sent me in the opposite direction to find our rooms. Didn't think much of it at the time. Then, the 3rd person checked in and he too was sent in the opposite direction from me (same direction as the 1st person). Still no alarms. When I tried to go to my room, couldn't even get there because the fire doors where locked. It was then I discovered that "my" wing I was the "Historic" (old!) section. When I went back to tell them, I said can you change my room to be near my friends? "NOPE" because I booked through a 3rd party! Which, BTW, I did not...but didn't realize it until one of my friends showed me his booking which was through the same website (their's!). And, at the same price!

Everything is old and unclean (hair everywhere) etc.) and it smells old.. Queensizebeds are way to small for 2 people.. asked for a 2nd room - very unfriendly.. we'll see how the Kingsizebeds will be..

Our room was dirty, long black hair and dirt in the bed and the bathroom. The room furniture was old and worn out. The paint on the walls is peeling and chipping. I am surprised that is place does not have a 1 star rating. I feel that we made a bad selection in choosing this hotel.

We attended the VIP dinner at the Inn on Friday night before the car show on Saturday. Great food! They have a beautiful banquet room which holds a couple hundred people, I'm sure. It's enjoyable to walk around inside the Inn and check out so much history of the original building.

Great place to overnight on the long drive between San Francisco and Los Angeles. While the % freeway is slightly faster, the 1010 route (with the last part to SF on 280) is much calmer and pleasanter. I love the historic photos and comfortable rooms and a delightful garden and pool. Don't expect gourmet food anywhere in Santa Maria but the Cantonese restaurant directly across the street is pleasant and certainly inexpensive. The big bar with its fireplace and the fireplace in the lobby are also pleasant for relaxing. The one substantial drawback is that the rooms facing the rear are awakened before 7 am by the city garbage trucks which for some reason they have not arranged to lave arrive later.

We were put in the old section which is a long way from the parking garage. The room was dingy and furniture scratched. The bed had tiny pillows on it and we had to remake it as there were lumps from the mattress pad. The sink was coming off the wall, and the blinds were dirty. The carpet was so dirty I was afraid to walk on it. They were having a wedding and the music was so loud that neither of us could sleep. Ironically we got the hotel because we were going to a party the next day and we wanted to be rested. We were miserable in the hotel. Also the soda machine was out of order.

First off I'll say that our stay was good enough for one night. One part of the inn is older than the other part. Our room was in the older side. Some reviews say the place is old and dated. True. Some say the decor in the rooms needs work. Also true. I'll add that in the older part of the inn, the part over the restaurant and bar, has one elevator in the front so prepare for a long walk if you get a back room. The are a lot of stair wells but it's only two stories. New paint and curtains would go a long way. They host weddings and such at this inn. We checked in around 7:30p and there was definitely a party going on but it was over around 9p which was good. If you're still reading I will say that the bed was comfortable and after the party was over it was very, very quiet. While I might stay again if I'm in the area I would ask about the newer part of the inn.

This historic hotel Inn is a treasure for Santa Maria. With his historic murals, beautiful landscapes and a superb Sunday Brunch we had a real good time inviting our friends to my husbands birthday to the Sunday brunch. Mimosas were free flowing and the service was superb. We stayed at the original side of the hotel that included a bath tub. I truly recommend attending the Sunday Brunch. Attention are place on every detail. I specially enjoyed the fresh seafood like oysters and shrimp but there is something to everyone. Kudos to the Century Room restaurant ??

We go to Santa Maria at least twice a year , one to eat at Shaws Steakhouse, two to drive up the coast to different little winery towns The view the fresh air just takes your mind off of everything else. We love staying at the Historic Santa Maria Inn. This place has so much history built in 1918ish and hosted so many famous people. I want to give Marie and here team a shout out as well. Always so kind and friendly. I definitely recommend if you want to just get away for a couple days to forget about all the junk!! So many things to do???? Paul M.

We’ll be going again! Stayed in historic part of the Inn. The rooms are dated but who cares when you’re surrounded by such rich history and beautiful architecture. Excellent bartender in pub and delicious food in their elegant dining room.
