I would give zero stars if I could. I live here now. I've been here for 2.5 years. The management (Isaac and Doron) are negligent to the extreme. This week alone:-- After warning them multiple times about the lack of security in the building I was cornered in a stairwell by three vagrants and their pit bull. The homeless men were using drugs and threatened me aggressively. The doors in the stairwell lock behind you so I had to get past them to get out. Again, this is after I'd warned Isaac and Doron about the lack of security in that stairwell in particular. They blamed residents for letting people into the building.-- After I told them about that, I sent them photos of the mess left behind in the stairwell which included trash, drug paraphernalia, and human feces. A week later it has not been cleaned up.-- The only reason I use the stairwell is because I have a dog and management told me that dogs are not allowed on the elevator, which cannot possibly be legal. The aforementioned incident was not an isolated one. I have run into multiple homeless trespassers in the stairwells and have had to step over human feces more times than I can count.-- Management warned us the building next store (which has been under construction and blocking the sidewalk for 3 years) was getting connected to the power grid so our electricity would be off overnight for about 8 hours. Isaac and Doron made no accommodation to allow residents to enter and exit the building during this time. They could have left a security guard at the front entrance as well as one at the garage entrance but they elected not to. If you needed to get in or out of the building with your car during this time you would be unable.Other ongoing issues:-- The building owner's son has about 8 abandoned cars taking up spaces on the upper levels of the garage while tenants have to cram in on the lower levels. When asked if the owner's son (who is not a resident) can move their cars to the lower levels to make it easier on residents, management just says it's not possible. They are afraid to make a simple request. They also rent out multiple spaces on the upper levels to businesses nearby which, while totally allowed, just shows you where their priorities lie when it comes to residents.-- Management refuses to install electric vehicle chargers (in violation of California law) even when residents offer to pay for them themselves. Management says that no electricity runs to the lower levels of the garage (even though there are lights down there that clearly rely on electricity).-- They will attempt to charge you at least $50 anytime maintenance comes to your unit even if it's something they are liable for. I have ongoing electrical issue in my unit (lights flickering, multiple outlets just do not work, etc) and their solution was to change the light fixture in the bathroom to an industrial LED fixture brighter than the surface of the sun... that still flickers because they didn't fix the underlying electrical issue in the apartment because that would be expensive. There is so much more but I'm out of space. They will jack your rent up the maximum amount they can every single year and judging by other reviews here, they're going to steal my security deposit. I've tried multiple times to address these things with them directly but they are unresponsive so here we are.If you want to know how incompetent they are, currently the only positive review of this building is by Isaac, one of the managers. AND HE ONLY GAVE IT 4 STARS. He's not even competent enough to click 5 stars when trying to defend the building where he works.Find anywhere else to live. And since they run the building next door (1235 5th), I'd avoid that place as well.

Lived there for 2 years and if I could give 0 starts instead of one I will. They will put you through hell and back to give your security deposit back. DORON and ISAAC, both don't write anything down, just tells you to call them, so when you say something over the phone, the next month they will say over email a totally different thing. I been waiting for my security deposit now for about 2 months and they are saying that I have to wait another one now. ( I paid June in advanced because Isaac said the security deposit will come to me faster if the lease ended).Isaac and Doron if you are reading this, GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful apartment building with high ceilings, spacious floor plans, hotel-like bathrooms, and a great community. Prime location right near 3rd st Promenade, Santa Monica Pier, and 4 blocks from the beach. So grateful every day that I found this gem! Maintenance team is fantastic. Doron, the property manager, is very kind and efficient.

RENTER ALERT PLEASE READ!The management of this building have a public judgement against them given by the Santa Monica courthouse for defrauding tenants. You can look up the case number on the LA county small claims website or search Google for Bradley Smagacz v Alon InvestmentCase number: 22SMSC00971Please be aware if you move into this building the management will absolutely steal your security deposit and harass you consistently. Every tenant I ever spoke with while I lived there absolutely despised the management and had to deal with many issues while living there and even more on move out.If you decide to move into this building even after reading all the horrible reviews, make sure you document absolutely everything. Do not take any phone calls from the management; insist everything is done through email. The units are all made with extremely cheap materials so during your move in inspection make sure to document every tiny little thing that is wrong with the apartment. Any tiny little scuff, any minor marking, document it all because you will be charged for it.

Thought I already posted this, but I guess not. I had the most horrible year of my life here. My unit was overrun by ants which management initially refused to do anything about (I have the photos to prove it). I also struggled to sleep here because you can hear loud footsteps above you in the building. In the end I had to threaten legal action before I got my security deposit back because it was past the 30 days they had to return it. What a nightmare. Can confirm that management is overly aggressive and seemed to disregard the law. I was afraid of them and feared a physical altercation. During final walkthrough I was yelled and cursed at because I dared to document that my unit was free of damage on my phone camera. I’m debating posting that footage to YouTube in the future for folks to see who they will really be dealing with after they sign on the dotted line of their contract.Furthermore, one of them (Isaac) gave the building a 4 star review above, so I’d disregard that as a conflict of interest.

Worst apartment building I ever lived in with the rudest management. Left after one year. Waste of time and money living there. Skip it.

Fantastic apartment building! Clean, quiet, perfect location, friendly neighbors, great parking accommodations, and same day response to any maintenance requests. The maintenance man for the building goes above and beyond and is absolutely fantastic. I’ve never encountered someone so dedicated and caring for residents, and it really makes the whole experience here that much better. The two bedroom I live in is gigantic and my bedroom and bathroom are the biggest I’ve ever seen in any apartment building. My puppy loves it here too and enjoys walking around the neighborhood. I absolutely recommend it here and can’t say enough great things about it!

Managers are difficult like many have said. Was fleeced for about $1500 on move-out (about $1000 of which had no merit whatsoever). The units and location are beautiful, though.

We lived at 1241 5th Street the last two years and had an amazing experience. Doron and Isaac are very responsive and go above-and-beyond for their tenants. The building is well-maintained and located on a great block. We will always have fond memories of our time there and highly recommend this building.

We lived here for one year and did not have any complaints, we moved as we relocated to Playa Vista which was closer to our jobs. Both Doron and Issac were extremely friendly and prompt!!!!

Property managers do bare minimum, are overall super rude, and building has zero amenities. Lots of partying neighbors and stolen packages. Every winter you'll be flooded by the ice rink chaos from October to January across the street. Walking your dog at night is terrifying as the block is a mainstay for homeless and their excretions.

The property managers here are excellent. Extremely responsive to all inquiries and very accommodating to the tenants. We have had nothing but an excellent experience living at the property in Santa Monica.

I just moved out of Alon Roma after living there for a year. I thoroughly enjoyed living there this last year. The location is perfect. A couple of blocks from the promenade so it's quiet yet close to everything. Underneath is a mani/pedi place that is super nice and convenient. A new pasta restaurant just opened as well. The management is A plus! Both Doron and Issac are on top of everything. Be it an issue with your apartment or anything to do with the building all you've got to do is point it out and it's generally addressed within 24 hours. Gerardo can take care of any repair and is available twice a week. I would not have left had I not needed to relocate to LA. I hope to go back to Alon Roma one day. If you get the chance to rent an apartment there, you can rest assured that you will be living in a well cared for building.

As a long time tenant, I cannot overstate what a pleasure it is to live here. I am surprised by some of the reviews I've seen on Yelp and can say without hesitation that living here has been an outstanding experience. I suspect many of the negative reviews are simply people who have an ax to grind and have exaggerated their situations. As someone who has lived in apartments all over the city, I can honestly say that I have never lived in such a well maintained building. The management team and owner spend a tremendous amount of time and resources in keeping the building like new. As someone who moved in when the building first opened, the building is in as good condition now as when it was a brand new building. At Alon Roma the management team performs maintenance like no other building I've ever lived in. Some examples of things done here that are not done at most apartments: -A cleaning crew cleans the common areas of the entire building from the top floor down to the underground parking garages multiple times a week -Replacement of A/C filters, carbon monoxide sensors, light bulbs in hallways/garage/outside and other items are done regularly and often -The owner and management team have made tenant safety a top priority and have installed security lighting, cameras and alarms throughout the property; in over 10 years here, I've never had a single safety issue -Maintenance/repair requests are always done almost immediately, a simple email to management and they always respond immediately and take care of the problem right away -They even regularly high pressure spray clean the parking garages to keep the area free of oil discharge from cars with area the cleanest parking garage I've ever parked in -When guests visit me here, they frequently comment on how clean the building is and always think the building is brand new -The owner of the building lives here as well and therefore ensures that the building is in outstanding condition. This is not the case at most apartment buildings. And much more that I don't list here. Also, the staff and ownership here are not only professional and responsive, they are genuinely nice people. If you live here for any extended period of time, you will find the staff here very welcoming; they make you feel like a member of a close-knit community. I've had many opportunities to move but have stayed here because it is simply the best maintained and managed apartment building I have ever lived in. Simply put, if you want to live in an amazingly well maintained, clean, safe, modern, state of the art building with an excellent, responsive, professional and extremely courteous management team, there is no better apartment to live in than Alon Roma.

I lived here for 1 year. The building is maintained well and it's a great location. Isaac and Doron will be straight with you. They won't sugar coat an answer, they'll just tell you how it is. I appreciate that. I didn't give 5 stars because I have two complaints, but they're manageable: - I moved because the rent was higher than I wanted. Talk with Isaac and Doron, they may be flexible. - The contract I signed said my apartment could be shown to potential renters for 30 days before I move out, with 24hrs notice of course. Bring this up, maybe they can remove it from yours. Otherwise I had a very nice time living here. If you're on the fence about living here, I encourage talking to Isaac and Doron.
