We made a reservation that was confirmed for 2 on Sunday at 5:30. When we arrived the restaurant was closed! Would have been helpful to be notified. Open Table, we blame you for this mishap. Do not confirm or even take a reservation until you are certain it will be fulfilled.
Even though my reservation was confirmed the day before by my responding to the OpenTable email I received asking me to confirm that I was going to be there on Tuesday, when I got to the restaurant it was CLOSED. No one was there and the doors were locked.
Great dining experience and great service. So nice to have happy hour again!
Our dinner was excellent, as was the service. It was quite noisy and difficult to have a conversation, but we will definitely go back again and again, as we have in the past. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Four of us enjoyed our dinners. First of all it's nice to see that they added vegetarian items. I had the meat loaf with steamed asparagus and a baked potato......very generous portion and excellent. My wife just had a mixed green salad. Service was very accommodating, but we had three different servers during the course of the meal. Booths are very comfortable and the restaurant is not noisy unless you come when the bar action is more hectic/ We always ask to sit near the back of the restaurant away from the bar area..
A major problem, for me, is that the picture they've posted on Open Table is not at all what the restaurant was like. The Open Table picture played a large role in my selection of that restaurant. From the picture, with small tablecloth-covered tables with flower vases on them, I expected a quiet, elegant restaurant when I booked. In contrast, the place is a fricking madhouse--booths instead of tablecloth-covered tables, and a decibel level high enough to drive you mad. I wish Open Table would require them to post an accurate photograph. On the plus side, the food was good, and the staff was very kind and attentive.
We ordered the Valentine's Day special dinner. The appetizer was one shrimp cocktail for two people. The shrimp appeared to be raw and were not deveined. After deveining the shrimp by hand, and biting into them, they were obviously raw or severely under-cooked. We should have sent it back, but we were with friends and we didn't want to disrupt their dinner. On the other hand, the salmon was extremely overcooked to the point of being tasteless. We were then given one piece of cheesecake to share. I can report that the cheesecake was excellent. We have been going to Daily Grill since it opened many years ago and we have had many lovely dinners there. This is the worst meal we have ever had there. I'm not sure we will want to go back.
We eat here all the time. The food is consistently good, the menu varies with the season and the wait staff is attentive and efficient. I highly recommend Daily Grill to everyone I know!
We came to visut with eachother and have a meal, but were seated at a round table next to the bar area. It was very noisy, hardly able to have a conversation! I would have requested moving but others slready had their water and bread, etc and didn't want to get up.
We were a party of five seated at the back of the restaurant. When two of us arrived, it was very noisy, but fortunately many of the parties were close to finishing their lunches and leaving (we intentionally scheduled a late lunch). Everything else was fine; good service, good food, and parking validation, which can be hard to get in LA. There's valet parking underground, but self parking right next to it, so unless the garage is full or you need to be right next to the stairs/elevator, take an extra moment to look around for a space. It was our first visit to this Daily Grill in more than 10 years because we had moved out of the area, but now that we're back, I'm sure we'll be visiting more often.

Reliable and pleasant Portions are generous, the service was fairly attentive, and we enjoyed our dinners. My husband had a Cobb salad, while I had the pan seared salmon, with spinach, ginger carrots and peanut cole slaw. The salmon was very tasty and not overdone. We turned down the delicious sourdough bread and butter that usually starts off the evening, as we were both dieting. (That bread is a killer for me.) It's nice to be able to talk in a restaurant - a rarity these days.
I live near by so I go there a lot. This time however, my friends meal was not cooked to her satisfaction, so they took it back leaving mine in front of me. That was a little awkward, - to have a hot meal in front of me that politeness dictated I could not touch until she had hers back.
Best calamari I have ever tasted, steak was sooo tender and my drinks (Raspberry Beret) were sooo tasty with my key lime pie! Thank you for a memorable visit to Santa Monica 💞
everything was great mystery comedy the food was off the chain I would love to come back
The restaurant was very crowded for lunch on the day I was there. The noise level was so loud that my guest and I could not have a conversation and hear the other. Our server was good. He checked back often to see if we needed anything. Our lunch was fine. I had the combo with soup and half sandwich. My guest wanted the combo with salad and soup but that was not part of the combo. She had to order both separately. It would be nice if the restaurant included soup and salad on their combo menu. Both were fine. I would recommend the Daily Grill and will continue to go there often.
