Very cute spot in santa monica. Old church converted into a very charming cafe. Prices are little on the high side but basically what you expect from this neighborhood. The lemon tart is excellent!

My surgeon from UCLA Ortho recommended this place. All I can say is it's pretty damn awesome. They have a few gluten-free options. Not too many, but enough for myself.
Lots of pastries. There are some sweet ones, and some less sweet ones. They have a very good food and baked goods that are quiche is amazing

Good food!
Tartine may sadly no longer be worth it. Unlike their 5⭐️ bread, the rest is not: our coffee came out lukewarm and tasted weak. Do NOT be tempted to order the “3”slices bc you actually get 1.5 slices for more than half the price of a whole loaf. The morning bun was dry and somewhat burnt tasting. Everyone hated the scone. The staff are wonderful and the location is great, but TBH grab your loaf and leave before your validation runs out.

I love the bread. Not so crazy about the food. It’s a great place to get coffee, loaf of bread in a pain a chocolate.

Kind-hearted, truly exceptional, wonderful service and that still all remains to be an understatement. The people who work here are good, good people. To be vulnerable, I was having a very awful day and (despite myself) began to cry when asking for help. Instead of making me feel worst or weird, the staff were remarkably thoughtful and caring. I will truly always cherish their generosity. Thank you so much.

The restaurant has only recently started opening in the evenings. Previously, it was better known for its café and delicious baked goods. We decided to visit the restaurant on a whim, were greeted very warmly, and were given a good table. Although we were tourists from Germany, we felt like part of the “family and friends” from the very beginning. The food is excellent (we had pizza, meatballs, and a delicious chocolate cake), and the wine selection is outstanding. The bread is delicious! The service is excellent and very friendly—we had the most wonderful evening there during our entire three-week trip to California. The restaurant manager is super nice and friendly, and we had very pleasant conversations with him. You can tell that he has ancestors from Europe and South America—he combines different hospitable cultures. If you're in LA or Santa Monica, you should definitely eat here! We wish the restaurant continued success!

Review of Café Tartine, Santa Monica
Café Tartine is just okay. It’s set in a former church with a stained-glass window, which makes for a unique space, but the vibe feels very touristy with lots of people more focused on photos than food. The menu is basic, the coffee selection is limited, and nothing really stands out. I only come here if clients ask; otherwise, there are far better options in Santa Monica, Venice, and nearby areas. Not a spot I’d recommend unless you’re a tourist.

Tartine just started doing dinner service! The food was delicious - favs were steak tartare, pineapple pizza, and sausage pizza. All desserts were really good. Good selection of wine as well! Just need a lil music outdoors and then it’s perfect!

I can't believe they turned this place into an eatery, this use to be the mortuary, my aunts service was there and those are the last memories I have of this place.
Gorgeous interior and really nice outdoor sitting area. Matcha was done in literally 1 minute and it was quite good. Many pastry options, about 3 of them were gluten free.

Terrific food and service. Also, the building is super neat and offers ample outdoor seating plus parking. Would definitely recommend!
