Another DDD joint was just excellent. Our waitress. Fernanda, was delightful. Being used to Tex-Mex, I thought the Chille Relleno was very, very good. Patio was welcoming to our little dog, which always makes us happy.
Latex Anita serves up generous portions and the food is pretty good, but not very good. My family has been getting food here frequently for years, dine-in and takeout. The super burrito is what we eat most, and depending on the day, it seems like they are filled or rolled in an odd direction so that the first half is mostly rice and then the meat and toppings come in layers toward the bottom. My stepson and I have both noticed this a number of times and it’s not the worst thing, but it still sort of ruins the flavor, bite by bite. The burritos are also QUITE heavy on the rice. I ask for 1/2 the rice and find them much better that way. The ingredients themselves are fresh tasting and good, and the carnitas don’t usually have too much gristle or globs of fat that you might find in similar restaurants. It really bothers me that they use styrofoam packaging for plated to-go foods and all aguas frescas orders, so I don’t get them. The green salsa is absolutely delicious and is our favorite—this is the main reason we have frequently returned. It’s delicious on their chips and we ask for two greens instead of a red and green with our burritos so we can add some flavor to the ~40% of them that are mainly rolled-up rice.
Guy Fieri is right. This is a must visit in Santa Rosa. The place is small but friendly, casual, and the food is terrific.
