A quirky and surprising culinary diamond in Seaside. The menu features super local ingredients that showcase the rich bounty of the area. Fish is the showcase item, but the other items will make your mouth water as well.

The hors d'oeuvre/starters are 5 star. Hamachi crudo, octopus, broccolini, beets oysters etc. All fantastic.
We were somewhat disappointed in the mains. The pork bellies were so-so. The halibut was dry and a bit overcooked. The steak and morels were good but not great.
This was our 2nd visit and we will be back, but may be to just order small plates to share

Food was delicious, staff friendly.
I loved the broccolini and grilled octopus with red pepper sauce.

The halibut with the corn was good. The halibut was cooked more than I like but still tasty.

The restaurant has a very cozy space with atmosphere of art, which makes me surprised. Seafood is very fresh and steak is tender and delicious. The green vegetables which recommended by the staff is also amazing. Even the dessert, nice and warm staff told us that it is popular because of not so sweet. Really know the taste of dessert for Asian people

Everything is wonderful. I especially loved the layout and decor. Having the kitchen at the front of the house makes it feel very homey.

Ate here a year ago and just read a review that is similar to my experience. Really nice space. Our 4 top agreed, very nice food, but overpriced for the portion size. Service was not overly warm. Wine options and prices are not common in wine centric areas of CA in my opinion. I hoped it would be great.

First the good. Food quality good. The bad, incredibly small portions for the prices charged. Wine prices are about 3x $retail and corkage $30. Above market. Being in the business, when I see pricing increase and portions decrease, typically a sign of distress and the end of the line. MANY Better options out there. Sad.

Wonderful staff and amazing food. Shared a bunch of the small plates and everything was great. Some items take on the smoked flavor which we weren’t sure if they were supposed to but they were still so good!

Maligne is the definition of exceptional dining service! This magnetic atmosphere has feels of nostalgia that leaves you wanting more. From the host that greets you, to the fantastic waitress, Itzel, who was so friendly and provided great service, to the chefs who are cooking in the open for everyone to witness their cooking skills. This restaurant hits a home run, we ordered the milk bread, stuff peppers, and crab cannelloni, and for dessert the cream puff - everything was served to perfection. We will be back again!

Enjoyed a delicious and delightful meal at Maligne! We ordered the whole turbot, the little gems salad, and the milk bread. The salad was simple but perfectly dressed. The milk bread had a super light and airy texture and we enjoyed the smokiness from the grill. The turbot was the star of the show - really tender and buttery with crispy. We could tell that the kitchen paid fine attention to detail to every dish that got sent out!

The service was also excellent and contributed to the atmosphere. Waitstaff was super attentive and friendly and answered all of our questions. Loved Maligne and hope to be back!

Maligne has a nice setting, but unfortunately, the experience doesn’t live up to the price. We started with the oysters and the spinach and crab dip—both were fine but nothing special. For mains, we had the paella, Caesar salad, prawns, and chicken Parmesan. Again, nothing stood out as particularly flavorful or memorable, especially given the steep prices.

The restaurant doesn’t seem to prioritize customer experience, and their policy of requiring a substantial down payment just to secure a reservation is absurd. It creates an unwelcoming atmosphere rather than a sense of exclusivity.

Overall, Maligne feels overpriced for what it delivers. For the cost, you can find far better dining options elsewhere. Would not recommend.
