There are so many sushi places in Studio City. This is just inside Sherman Oaks by one block, on Riverside, so it's a real neighborhood place. The food is great. Truly homemade. Everything is fantastic. The host, Ben, is stellar. Kind, attentive, and very helpful and knows the cuisine. A great place ... and our secret, okay?

The best sushi in the area. I have been driving by this place for a while. We (4) finally went last night. What a hidden gem, thanks to Carmen. We arrived in time for happy hour 5-7pm. Very extensive happy hour menu, spicy tuna roll, big fish burrito roll, calimari, and $15 big pitcher of beer. We also ordered off the main main menu, crunch roll, and california roll with lagustino (big shrimp that tastes like lobster). The experience was made more surprising when the prices didn't break the bank, about $200 for the four of us. The topping of the evening was Carmen, our server. A statues young lady gave us her full attention and made some fantastic recommendations. Don't lose this lady. She brightens up the room. Needless to say we are going back soon.

Took the family to Big Fish Sushi for a Friday night dinner & they did not disappoint! The rolls were delicious & the service was top notch, at a quite reasonable price. The server took the time to see what we ordered & made recommendations based on that. We’re so glad we ordered what the server recommended. A small thing - the hot tea was really tasty too! Can’t wait for our next family dinner :-)

Was supper excited to try this place based upon reviews BUT honestly quite disappointed. Anytime sushi smells fishy, it’s never a good sign & our first order was pretty fishy. Then our waitress gave us a different special other than the special we ordered for our next sushi but she said how good it was so we decided to go with it only to be shocked by the price difference later on the bill (almost dbl for that item)
Then we ordered a few rolls - all were small & over priced for their size!
So back to Katsuya (can never go wrong for quality & price (Inc bigger rolls for less))

It’s apparent this restaurant only cares about making money and is not passionate about food. The sushi rolls are so small and they don’t include ginger and wasabi, which is very odd for a sushi restaurant. The miso soup had a really weird flavor and tasted off. Also a very small portion. We don’t recommend this place. Go to Kinza instead.

This was the best impromptu find in the valley. The quality and freshness of the food is worth the price. Service was amazing and friendly.
Parking: I think if you aim for an earlier time, parking will be easier to find.

Hands down our new favorite sushi restaurant. Worth driving over the hill. Loved everything we had including the bulgogi. Fish was super fresh and the rolls were creative and delicious. The owners were really gracious and made our night special.
