I went into Uoichiba Handroll for lunch in Sherman Oaks on the day they were closed by mistake. Fortunately, Omar, who was running the fish/wagyu “deli counter” at the Joint, offered to slice 1/2 pound of chu toro for me and allowed me to dine in at one of the bar height tables and the waitress at the coffee bar part of the joint gave me chopsticks, soy sauce, wasabi and napkins. Problem solved. I LOVE this place!
Absolutely amazing experience, the workers are so nice and helpful and will take the time to explain things to new customers. The dry aged collars are absolutely delicious as well as the smoked salmon that tastes like heaven, would highly recommend, and thank you Josh for helping me.
I went for the handroll bar and it was great! Friendly service and they do not rush you like many of the other handroll bars do. The fish was fresh and the rolls were unique. I do wish the rice was warm as it is supposed to be in a hand roll. I also thought it was a little weird that the person preferred the sushi basically had to turn their back to you to make the sushi which made it feel a little less personable, but with this being said I'd still go back I enjoyed myself...
