Oct 2022 review-- Hearing the coffee shop was nearly going out of business, I insisted to a friend we go here for lunch.I now understand why they're in their situation. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, when I received my breakfast burrito I was a bit confused - but the waiter quickly and condescendingly said "it's naan bread". Bean Town is just unfortunately no longer a homey place to be, so while it pains me to say, I will not be back. The soul and friendliness have left.Pre 2020 review-- You walk into this coffee shop, and you feel like you're in some fictional small town on some TV show, yet astonishingly, you've just stepped into a Sierra Madre Institution. To get out of the hustle and bustle of LA, head to BeanTown, where you'll be reminded of what small town living used to be like.
Such a nice coffee shop and great staff , but the Air Conditioning is really sucks !It was 103 outside, the owner is only running some useless fans inside !!!
Good coffee and pastries, but what happened to the inviting atmosphere? They used to have comfy furniture and an extremely talented jazz singer who added to the cool, eclectic vibe. Now there’s just stiff tables and chairs, and echoing silence. It has as much appeal as an office break room. Please bring back the character that once had the movie scouts (and the rest of us) seeking this place out.
This is really good coffee shop and has a good goodies to offer . Fresh baked that is very good match for may favorite coffee. Good service as well.
Bean Town is the quintessential small town coffee shop. Friendly, inviting with great food options and terrific coffee.
Friendly staff in an unpretentious, warm coffee shop environment. They have a great selection of teas.
Tasty coffee and great prices. Highly recommend checking this place out. Definitely beats Starbucks in my opinion in both quality and value.
Beantown has a consistent group of great cooks and barristas. Open early I have the healthiest options I can hope for on my commute to work. Their veggie scramble is my fave.
Really good coffee and the ham/broccoli/corn quiche was really hearty and yummy ?
I have been coming here since I was in elementary school. Back in town (now in my late 30s) visiting my folks and I knew I needed a half spice half vanilla Chai and a cinnamon roll. They are just as delicious as I remember!!! ??

Really great breakfast burritos and pastries. Love the Lemon tarts and tasty scones.
Another nice entry in Sierra Madre's excellent assortment of coffee places. They have fairly standard coffee drinks and lack ultra-fancy coffee, but the selection of sandwiches and other prepared food is excellent. I'm very glad they're back in business after being shut down for too long.
Good food and great ambiance
Wow! Bean Town has a whole new look out front. Someone drove thru the window, hence the renovation! ? Delicious lemon tart and other scrumptious pastries. Glad this Sierra Madre landmark has survived & hope it keeps the old coffeehouse culture & charm. Will be back to support!
Same great food, service and smiles!
