Last night I chose Sushi and Tap over many great options thinking it would be fun: instead I had a waitress with short, black hair who was unsmiling the whole time, never went further beyond her job and made me feel unwelcome - even electing a little cheer to her BOH team when I got out of my chair so she could leave. It was the rudest customer service experience I’ve ever had. It made everything feel overpriced considering the service was disturbing and even felt slightly racist. I will never be back.

Local Roots Solana Beach: clean, modern, and friendlier than a dog at a barbecue! Work or play, have it your way with rotating kombucha and chef's sushi menu. Wifi, TVs and indoor outdoor space make it ideal for people watching or mingling. Just a heads up, it's a bit pricer with fewer options than nearby spots like Station Sushi, but hey, quality ain't cheap! ?? ??

Also agree with other reviewers, James is a cool guy. ?

So I got a gift card for Christmas to local roots, excited and went last night for dinner to try it out....... and this is why I don't go out much to establishments, service sucked, 45 minutes to order a stinking sushi roll!!! And loud in there, they were doing trivia. Ughhhh....had 1 kambucha...God I left hungry didn't even eat sushi....young man named omar was trying to be nice about my experience, thanks for trying. But overall a horrible experience at local roots, sorry guys, I expect excellent customer service when I do out spending good money. Merry whatever.

Very light on the fish for a $23 poke bowl (Rainbow - tuna, yellowfin and salmon). Lots of salad/cabbage and rice but had to hunt for the fish - can you find it? (photo). Crunchy roll was fair and also thin but tasted good.Decent craft beer selection too.

Best place ever! The bartender, James, is super nice and personable, the food is delightful, and the alcoholic drinks are so good! You’ll get some good conversation with some regulars and the staff and be really full and happy when you leave!

This place is a hidden gem. Incredible hard kombucha and a great selection of sushi. Incredibly warm and welcoming environment, our bartender (James) does a fantastic job. I wish I lived closer so I could be a regular, I will be back for sure.

Move aside Juneshine, Local Roots is delicious and here to stay. Popped into here after Culture Brewing was closed an hour earlier then the advertised time. Pleasantly surprised. Lots of tasty flavors and Rachael was an amazing boochtender. Try the Tropical Habanero if you like a spicy kick or the Bluebird Daze for something a lil unique.

I don't drink alcohol and the first few times I went to Local Roots, there were several rotating NA options on tap. More recently, they have limited it to 1, but were also offering can pours so there were still multiple flavors to chose from. When I went back with my partner this weekend, however, the bartender told me that the cans are only available for purchase in 4- or 6-packs so I didn't order anything. I'm disappointed because it was my favorite place to take friends and visitors for drinks, but without the NA options it's much less appealing. They have the cans refrigerated next to the bar, I hope they make these available to enjoy onsite again in the future.

Great Kombucha, good sushi. The bartender/server did nothing but talk about concerts and bands while LOUDLY dropping F-bombs. Normally I don’t care but my food was just sitting in the window while he was living it up. 45 mins for a poke bowl. Nope.

Great Sushi and a cool atmosphere. Great service too, we showed up early by accident and they happily opened the sushi bar early for us.

Morgan, Briahna and team are the absolute best. My husband and I love the Kombucha, and their customer care is what makes this place the best in the industry. So happy to be part of their monthly mug club, to spread the word that local roots is #1!!!
