A busy busy authentic Mexican food establishment with lots of alcoves, rooms, outdoor patio, interesting decor.
Plenty of staff. Excellent menu, especially the mole!
We drank Coca-Cola that was bottled in Mexico, meaning something more sweet than USA.

We were told 45 minutes so we headed to the bar - well over two hours later still no table available. We ordered some drinks and asked for water - 3 hours later we never received any waters. Food is average definitely NOT worth the wait. Go somewhere else
I have been to my share of Mexican restaurants in San Diego (in fact eaten next door several times) but hands down this was the best! Had the enchilada verde and it was outstanding. Service was great, margarita was excellent. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful dinner for two. It is hard to find an authentic Mexican restaurant that does not use lard in their frying. Tony’s does not. We started with a cold draft from the extensive beer list. Some of the drinks and the tequila six selection Looks wonderful as well. We started with a basket of chips with salsa and ordered a large guacamole, which frankly was not that large, but it was wonderful. It was served on a bit of lettuce. Companion had the potato enchilada which he said was wonderful, vegan, And served with vegan beans spiced rice and they’re wonderful cabbage salad, which taste like it has a very light mayonnaise dressing on it but thick cut and not like coleslaw. I had the mixed seafood enchilada which was really really good. It had a sauce on top of it and again the vegan beans And rice and a very chocolate flavored molè on the side. We passed on dessert. They did not give you a check at the table, the first time I have ever seen this, but you finish and go up to a desk and give them your table number. They have what you ordered and they enter it there. Not sure I’d like the system as it doesn’t give you a lot of time to check Whether they are accurate. See my photos the bathroom needed a little bit more attention and was messy. The atmosphere of the place is wonderful. It’s like one big party. The outdoor dining area is gorgeous with a central flower garden and a waterfall. Very authentic delicious Mexican food with an amazing variety on the menu. Would definitely go again.
Very popular old school place. A bit dark inside and a beautiful patio outside. Table service is a bit unique with a team approach. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always lend to great disposition. The margaritas are very good, and they offer very good cocktail, beer, and wine options. The food is very good with only a few clunkers. We have ordered guacamole 4/5, queso fundido 4/5, carnitas and asada combo 5/5, seafood enchiladas 4/5, chicken fajitas 4.5/5, hard taco and enchilada combo 3.5/5, and fried ice cream 1/5.
This used to be a great place that I recommended in the past and also took friends and family to. I'm wondering what happened to change it. My wife and I had dinner there the evening of 2/2/25, we both ordered Tostada Suprema's, me the full, my wife the half. The meat was so over salted my wife had to send it back and ordered the carne asada. The carne asada tastes different now too. I'm always afraid to send food back for fear of what may be done to the next thing, so I choked about half of it down and quit. their service was always good in the past but this time I had to flag someone down for a refill, I was really thirsty from the really salty food. The beans and rice were good, and my wife ordered a pint of each to go which is typical for her from this restaurant. We also ordered two flans to go as well. I went to the refrigerator the next day and realized they forgot to pack the flan, I checked the receipt, and we did pay for it. I'm very disappointed. this place used to be really good with great service, we've been going there for years. I called them about the two missing flans, but the guy that answered didn't seem to care.
I struggled with telling the truth on this one but I always do. The reason I struggled is I was tempted to give a low rating so I would not have to wait as long to dine here. Four generations of my family has been enjoying what I and many others consider the best Mexican food on Earth. Since I can't find the courage to lie, I am grateful to those that gave a low rating as they may help my desire to not have to wait as long, I jest because it is always worth it. If you read its not the food they mark down its that some people are just impatient. Love you Teresa, her beautiful voice calling "Adessa party of six, Adessa party of six" is one of my favorite things to hear.
If you know you know! Tony's is the only place to go for real cuisine!!

I really wanted to like it. We just moved into the neighborhood and it’s a legendary staple of Solana that we were excited to try. But……..to 100% honest, the food was just not that great. Atmosphere is 10/10 and has the cantina feel that you need out of an establishment that’s been around 80 YEARS. Food needs to up the game and match it.
Plus side: the drinks are strong.
