1st time here, went for lunch. Wonderful interior and really nice, big bar. We were greeted immediately by Francisco, who took us to a great table for 2. Excellent service, filled our water glasses ( which, as an aside are really beautiful), asked if we wanted any thing else to drink. As we'd been told, the Maya margaritas were really good, so we got a couple of those, upgraded to Top Shelf. Excellent! We both got the prawn enchiladas, which were really amazingly good...I was hesitant, b/c it's got a tarragon cream sauce, and tarragon is not one of my favorite flavor profiles. BUT, it really was so good! The enchilada is done in a ? spinach tortilla and it all married together so beautifully. My dh got the same thing and he absolutely loved it! Francisco brought us a complimentary shot of peant butter tequila; absolutely phenomenal! We topped off the meal with the chocolate cake dessert, which is a ( I think) flourless cake, but very rich and decadent, topped with some ? Vanilla ice cream with a fudge/chocolate drizzle and sliced fresh strawberries and mango. The entire experience from walking thru the door until we walked out was just perfect ( except when I spilled half my margarita ) and we can't wait to go back ! Treat yourself and go here.

Went a few months ago. The staff was great. The owner came out and introduced himself to us. He was friendly. Food was amazing and not terribly priced. Will go back.

There is little to celebrate about this restaurant. I found the service to be performative and insincere. It's a fairly affordable restaurant, but it makes sense for the quality of the ingredients. The food is not good. Chicken tacos that are soggy and the chicken was cubed. The children's burrito was made with white beans and had a peculiar flavor. My daughter would not eat it. Why would a restaurant decide to make the children's menu complicated? The whole point of the children's menu is simple and affordable options that children will eat. When it came time for the check, there were no servers to be seen, despite clearly needing to leave with two hungry children ready to go. I had to walk to the bar and ask for my bill. This place survives likely because there are no good Mexican restaurants on the square in Sonoma. With such a rich Mexican heritage, it is disappointing that there aren't better option on the square.

Quick and attentive service, but the food is really boring. Perhaps I am spoiled by the many delicious Mexican places in and around the Bay Area... But this rendition of Mexican food is very bland. The salsas and sauces completely lack spice. The tortillas and chips are just OK. The rice and beans somehow manage to be devoid of any flavor whatsoever.

Service and the atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Ordered tortilla soup and it was very thick with shredded chicken., I wouldn’t order the soup again. I will return and try something different in the future.

This place is ridiculous. They open or close without any notice, and the hours on their google listing don't mean anything. Arrived to find they were closed, when everywhere online said it would be open.

The drinks were good and the service was good. But the food was BAD. We ordered: guacamole and chips, lime tortilla soup, grilled pesto vegetables, and prawn enchiladas. NO exaggeration when I say that NOT ONE of these items had even a trace of seasoning and we both left the restaurant still hungry.

A Latin American place in downtown. Good vegetarian options, it also has a bar. Would recommend if looking for quick Mexican place. We tried the good nachos : 3/5 , it was overloaded with cheese and beans which was good, also it was little salty for me. The quesadillas were really good :5/5. Pasilla peppers added a very unique flavor to the quesadillas, the veggies are so fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend trying it. The ambience is very cozy and pretty place. Perfect if you are looking for a Mexican bite.

I really wanted to give a better review. The service was top notch and the food came out quickly. The chips and salsa were average, as was the guacamole. Unfortunately the chicken mole enchiladas were just OK. They lacked depth of flavor.

We have been coming here for 10+ years and it is always a pleasure. Friendly staff, delicious food and the drinks are fantastic (be careful)! My kids also love it here, it's fairly family friendly, while still being upscale, comfortable and inviting. Maya = best margarita in Sonoma.
