The sampler platter was absolutely divine. The chicken and rib were so flavorful and juicy. Also one of the best pulled pork and beef I have had and definitely not a place we would have expected to find such delight!

Tasty food, affordable price. We ordered half a chicken for pickup online. It was easy and pretty quick and a good amount of food. We also got the coleslaw but that wasn’t as for and was a small portion for $6.

Pretty solid baby back ribs, though a tad on the salty side and the meat wasn't fall-off-the-bone tender. The ribs were super meaty though and plenty filling. You get 5 ribs in a platter. The pricing was very reasonable for Tahoe.

The fries were good. Unfortunately, they were out of chili when I ordered. They also have a large draft beer selection.

Chicken In A Barrel BBQ – Friendly Service, Decent BBQ

Chicken In A Barrel BBQ was an okay experience. The BBQ itself was decent—definitely edible but not the best I’ve had, and a bit on the pricey side for what you get.

The standout here was the staff—absolutely 5-star friendliness! Everyone was welcoming and made the visit enjoyable.

However, the atmosphere was lacking. There was no decor at all, which made the place feel a little plain. In contrast, just a block away at Red Hut, the walls are covered with historical photos, adding a lot of character to the dining experience.

Overall, I’m giving it a **4-star rating** mainly because of the amazing staff. If you’re looking for friendly service and don’t mind a simple setting, it’s worth a visit.

The food was okay.. I have had much better ribs before. The main issue was food/price proportionality. The prices are a bit high for a casual place. We ended up spending $40 per person for one plate and fountain drink. I believe they have raised their prices recently

I ordered a bacon cheeseburger burger my husband ordered the rib plate.
For a smoke house the quality of these meats was terrible. The burger was an overcooked flat rubber biscuit. I asked for no bun, got a bun anyways. My husband didn't even finish his ribs. I would expect a smoke house or bbq place to know how to cook meats but this was not the case. We wont be eating here again, basically like getting a cheeseburger at a fast food drive through. The place itself is really cool, we watched a go pro ski video on the screen. There isnt a lot of interaction between the employees and customers, just a quick order and they bring you your food but what encounter we did have was pleasant enough, not overly friendly.

Will never go there again.

First time here and was wow’d! There were two local artists performing oldies live that sounded great. It made the atmosphere very warm and welcoming.

Order the Chicken and Rib plate with the chili, and subbed the brown rice for macaroni salad. Also ordered a side of sweet potato fries! The ribs and chicken were delicious! My favorite was the chicken, but I do prefer chicken over other meats. Both were incredibly fall off the bone tender!

I also loved the sweet potato fries, so next time I’ll order the chicken and sweet potato fries!

I saved the corn bread and chili for later.

The only real nitpick i can find is that the music was REALLY loud in the bathrooms, but overall Chicken in a Barrel is AMAZING. We stopped with them years ago at their old location, and they've only gotten better!

Great location with plenty of parking hard with Whole Foods. The doors to the restaurant were open to allow fresh air from the adjoined outdoor seating. Many options of beers and cider on tap where you can pay by the ounce. Food was described as American BBQ with a Hawaiian influence. Loved the chicken (great flavor), ribs (good smoke). Sides of chili, coleslaw, and cornbread were on point. Recommend!

Honestly, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I hoped. We ordered the Po Boy Sandwich and the Sampler Plate. The sandwich was slightly better, and the sampler plate had plenty of meat, but overall, the food just wasn’t my type. It might be great for others, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for.
