Unbelievable! The $42 omakase was the best presentation and best omakase I’ve ever had! Remarkable. It was the most satisfying and lowest price of any sushi I’ve had in a decade. I’m going back and ordering the same tomorrow.

Good food. Service was a little ho-hum. Quick but still quality fish. This place is probably great for lunch.

I do wish going with chef's choice would have been a little more bold instead of playing it so safe.

Absolutely fantastic, I am SUPER picky about sushi and am rarely in the mood for it...

This place is likely to change that!

Possibly the best sushi I’ve ever had. Will be back. Double tuna, dragon & lion king were exceptional.

Amami San Japanese Restaurant in South San Francisco is a delightful spot for authentic Japanese cuisine. Their Bento box meals are thoughtfully prepared with a perfect balance of flavors and portion sizes, offering a satisfying and complete dining experience. The soups, especially the miso soup, are comforting and flavorful, making them a great complement to any meal. The restaurant's clean and cozy atmosphere combined with attentive service makes Amami San a great choice for both quick lunches and relaxed dinners.

Today, I visited Amami Sun in South San Francisco, and it was an amazing experience! The atmosphere was cozy, the staff was very attentive, and the sushi was absolutely delicious. Every dish was fresh and beautifully presented. I especially loved the chef’s special rolls. I will definitely come back and highly recommend this place to all fans of Japanese cuisine!

So sad they turned me away at 9:30. To think I come here every time I come to town…

Service is impersonal if you aren’t a regular (which is fine, won’t ding for it if the food is great).

Unfortunately the food left much to be desired. See the attached photo for the salmon bento box which is very clearly tiny scrap salmon bits they couldn’t use for their sushi. The salmon wasn’t seasoned well either (they just cooked and poured sauce at the very end. It didn’t taste like the sauce was part of the cooking). It is not worth the price like this.

It also looks nothing like the salmon bento a previous reviewer shared where there were four large pieces of salmon (you can search “salmon bento” in the search box.

California roll is good.

We ordered the tonkatsu dinner set with tempura and beef teriyaki dinner set. The teriyaki and tempura were both too dry, and the batter on the tempura was too hard. One of the shrimp tempura was so dry it tasted pasty. Service was decent, portions were large, but the food was a miss…

It is frustrated by dismissive, unfair, and unacceptable customer service from a young girl server. That girl is unfriendly and rude to the customer. Even though the food is good and fresh, we will not return to eat there. The restaurant owner or manager should be there to oversee how the server serves customers. It is hard to file a complaint while no manager is on duty.
