Masa Japanese Lounge is hands-down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Everything is incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The vibe is upscale but welcoming, and the service is always on point. They’re super family oriented and sweet people, and are so helpful, explaining every ingredient and every menu item. Whether you’re a sushi lover or just trying it out, this place sets the bar. 10/10 recommend!
(The pictures don’t do it justice because we TORE them up, but just give this place a try, you won’t regret it!!!!)

Jackie is the best server! She is so kind and attentive. She is one of the reasons my family will always be coming back. The food is great but her service is top tier!! Jackie puts so much pride in her service, and makes sure we are taken care of. Thank you Jackie for amazing service!

Lovely place. Extensive menu and good explanation of items. Sushi rolls are generous and lovingly made to order. Japanese odon curry is out of this world! Curry with gorgeous umami undertones. Very personal and attentive service. Nice saki options. Masa is my new Stockton favorite!

Great Family owned Sushi restaurant. Food is delicious n portion size is perfect. Their Salmon dinner is big size salmon n fresh. My husband ate half the salmon so it’s a lot bigger than the picture. Come n enjoy yourself n be served by the owner himself. Very nice and welcoming.

Order food here recently and Sake. The food was horribly overcooked and didn't have any flavors. We ordered a pork katsu, beef donburi, and fried tofu. The pork was inedible it was so tough to chew. The beef I ate because I was incredibly hungry but it too was so overcooked and tough to chew. The tofu was way overcooked and was like eating rubber. The sake tasted burnt or stale possibly? I think this place has new owners and unfortunately the quality has taken a nose dive.

I love coming here for lunch or dinner. When the craving hits, I just have to have the mixed veggie tempura appetizer and wakame! For rolls, I've had their rainbow, last samurai, and lion king. I like the way they season their rice and how fresh the fish tastes. I've also had their pesto salmon teriyaki that was such a treat and have had many bites from other dishes when dining with friends. So happy this place is around!

I mean, I'm generous, but I can't even rate this place properly cause it's a class of its own. Just overall experience surpasses my expectations. I can promise you they are high.

It's a family-owned business that truly did everything the right way. The design inside is exactly what you want a fresh sushi place to look like. Quaint, and big enough for a family.

The food is so fresh! We had their spicy edamame and gyoza to start. Both were cooked to perfection and somehow they kept the pork inside so juicy with the perfect crisp on the outside. I had two sushi rolls and two portions of nigiri; that tasted and felt like butter.

Shout out to Jacki for coming in on her day off to give us exceptional service. Truly top to bottom a fantastic experience and will be recommending it to any and all who come through Stockton.

Kid-friendliness: They have a drawing kit for kids and for $5 they will teach you how to roll your own sushi ?

Drove from SF to check this out it was highly recommended to me. Thankie Jacky & Geno. So we decided to take my close friends ? to masa!!! Which I'm glad ? we did! Entering I was mesmerized how simple the decor & the light warmth of the place. Very comfy & different; example the dark red curtain hiding the whole restaurant itself like it's a mystery once we entered it was spacious & unique! The chairs has plenty of space like you're in a traditional seats of a Japanese edo period like an antique feeling but with a modern twist! The lightings & the painting even the divider is a unique feature incase of need of privacy. Did I mentioned a truly family owned! Very attentive siblings introducing themselves to their guests & they'll tell you the honest recommendations to try. Now the menu! Affordable & good portions! Lots of selections! I can't wait to try their dinner menu next time I'm in town. I have a favorite dish there called "the last samurai" ? huge portions with different slices of fish, crab, crispy Cucumber, fish eggs, & special sauce! It's so huge I had to ask my friends to share it with me,along with the Philadelphia rolls of cream cheese & salmon! Besides the rolls their bento ? menus was good also! You can mix match of main dishes to side dishes! Don't forget to try their appetizers i liked their takoyaki alot! Next time ill order 2 or 3 more sets! Truly I can't wait to try the dinner menus & update this review in the future! Please support stockton & bay area!

The food here is not delicious, the price is a bit high compared to the same level in other places in the city.

Jackie was our waitress. She was very nice. Masa Contemporary Lounge is a small local family owned business. Jackie said her brother heard the sushi restaurant was going out of business so they bought it 5months ago to take it over. I'm glad they did because it's a true hidden gem. I wanted oysters and they are very good the shell is even pretty. We also got the hot plate Eel. Never had Eel on a hot plate OMG NEW FAVORITE. Had the Red & White roll. Got a plum cosmo it was yummy and pretty. The cute benches give it a home vibe, there was peaceful relaxing music. Oh and if you like clean oyster shells then you will love them here there perfect. You can order for To go and a take home menu. They also have fried octopus which i love. So will definitely be back. I support local small family owned business so look forward to trying more here.
