Hadn't been out to Nenas for a good while but hey we were in the area . Gotta tell you pleasantly surprised even though the restaurant was packed plus at least 15 people waiting outside the doors we were seated at the bar right away . Got front row seating to live mariachi !!!!! Ordered a Long Island and gotta tell you highly recommend it so refreshing and strong the way I like em . Ordered the tostada mixta which also hit the spot so delicious. Hubby ordered the torta cubana which if you haven't tried that's a must and if you've had before you know . Can't wait to go back again with the whole familia !!!!!

Hostess told us thirty minute wait and when we came back to the restaurant ten minutes later we noticed our names were crossed off when we asked why she said she called us and we didn't answer...the food was ok but very small portions I could have eaten four of their enchiladas, I asked for a michelada with Dos Equis dark and they didn't have it. They also have some weird rule about ordering multiple items and made us order only one. So instead of getting one enchilada and one taco my wife could one order one of the two... so no we won't go back.

First off The hand made tortillas !!! Great I ordered the molcajete and a fish taco so bomb the owner Nena very sweet lots of new faces my waitress was not really as attentive to me as I would have liked but overall one of my favorites places for specialty dishes my husband gets the beef toloqueno which is also outstanding a great restaurant that me and my family always enjoy

Loved the atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. We've enjoyed our various meals during our visits. It's packed on the weekend too! Make sure to ask for Erica...she's been a server there for 24 years!

Service was good. Food was good. I ordered the nachos with carne asada. The meat was flavorful and not dry. There was plenty of nacho cheese layered in, not just on the top layer. The only thing I would change is I would like to see more pico de gallo but that's just my personal preference.

I've been going here since I was little and the food is never a disappointment! Although, The service can be iffy every now and then. The interior isn't the best either but then again, it's downtown Stockton

I would rate my experience with this restaurant no stars if I could. I was recommended this establishment by some friends, as we are not from the area. I love Mexican food, and was excited to try their homemade tortillas. I will not be returning. To start things off, we did not even get as far as ordering off the menu. Our waitress had slammed down extra menus on the menus we were clearly in the middle of reading. Very rude and should have been the sign to up and leave. We have them the benefit of the doubt, but we waited over 20 minutes to order our food for our waitress to even acknowledge us. Every time she broke eye contact as soon as she passed by our table. We were only able to order a beer, but only after our "waitress" looked at us, acting like we didn't know what beer we were ordering, trying to make it look like we didn't know WHAT we were ordering. We were able to finish all of our beer and chips and salsa, before we up and left. When we went up to the front to pay for our beer, not one apology was given. We tried another restaurant called Don Luis a few minutes away. We told them about our experience at Nena's, and we received EXCELLENT service with EXCELLENT food. Very grateful for their service. It's too bad waitresses can result in bad experiences.

Very disappointed at the service here. We waited over 20 minutes and weren't acknowledged by our waitress. We managed to finish our beer, chips & salsa and still didn't get acknowledged even though she walked by countless of times and was attentive to everyone else. I will say, I do thank Nena's for their awful service because we drove to Don Luis and had AMAZING service with amazing food.

She slammed menus in front of my partner and avoided eye contact every time she passed by us and continued to serve other guests and seat more people but couldn't even check up on our party. Just go to Don Luis Mexican Restaurant instead.

Our menu's were slammed down on top of the menus were already reading. Our waitress walked past our table 5 times and avoided eye contact all while we were ready to order. Finally got up to go and pay for my beer because I refused to wait any longer.

First time at Nenas's and I absolutely loved it. The location is great really cool building. The rice was perfect. The sauce for the chile verde was amazing the pork could've been a little more tender, but it was still delicious and the tortillas freshly made an absolutely delicious, I wish I lived closer. I'd be back a lot more often. But I will definitely be back. Our servers were awesome. Very friendly lots of smiles. I wish I would've taken a picture of my meal next time I won't forget. Big thumbs up from me.

Love this place! Best Mexican food in Stockton. I go here fairly regularly - every 2-4 weeks, sometimes more. Great ambience, great food, what more could you ask for? My only question is, why does Nena's not take reservations? I went today and the food and service was great as always, but today I didn't really feel as great about the spot. I had called around 2pm today to set up a reservation for 3 people, but was told the place doesn't take reservations for parties under 8. Well, not all people have families of eight people. So I get to the place forty-five minutes early, at around 5:13pm (today was Saturday so I knew it was going to be full, as I said, I go here enough to know the vibe - my friends and I had agreed to meet for dinner there at 6pm). As I physically enter the restaurant, I put in an on-the-spot request for a party of three. I get sat at a table just after 5:30pm. Great! The chips and salsa come out. Great! At 5:54pm I get approached by one of the waiters saying I will have to leave by 6 p.m. (I was at the table by myself, eating chips and having iced tea) because they had "fourteen people waiting outside". Please learn to treat your customers better (I understand you're busy), or, at the very least, please please please start taking reservations. I was in an uncomfortable situation today precisely because the protocol for taking reservations is nearly non-existent. Can you please flex on the reservations? I know today I felt stuck between a rock and a hard place and I can't be the only one who has felt that way. Please take reservations. I felt dissed as a not-quite-regular who regularly goes to Nena's (and I have brought in lots of other people, both from in town and from out of town, into your wonderful establishment). I love your food and business, and I still tipped 20%. But I left feeling kind of dissed and unappreciated as a human being. Maybe reservations would clear up the whole awkwardness.

Two occasions I had to wait 40+ minutes for a simple to-go order when the server said it would be done in 25 minutes. They were not busy at all when the order was placed. 15 minutes later it gets busy and they sit folks. Most if not all of those people receive their orders while I'm still waiting for my own. The second time I asked for a refund and left without the food still not in hand because my order was not made. To top it off, they initially gave me the wrong refund amount and I had to go back in to get the right amount.
