The service is impeccable. The food is delicious! Such a big menu for such a little place. Great traditional Japanese comfort foods! Plus, it has an amazing choice of sashimi, rice bowls, udon bowls, and poke bowls. If you're a lover of all things Japanese, this is a must try! I highly recommend Daichan!

My all time favoriteJapanese restaurant. The katsu curry is to die for. There are so many items on the menu to try. The staff are incredibly nice and accommodating. Atmosphere is fun, there are lots of fun nik naks covering the walls. It looks like a casual place on the outside but it's so much more. Go as soon as they open because it fills up quick and always has a line.

Was so excited to finally go here after a friend had raved about it for years… After an incredibly long wait with open tables available, waitstaff was rude and food was less than mediocre. Shameful how rude the waitress was. If I could rate 0 stars I would.

Horrible! This place was the best around. That no longer is the case. The quality is now close to store about sushi. The tuna is brown in color and does NOT taste good. Not fresh at all, it looked and smelled bad. The portions are also much smaller then what they use to be.

So much delicious Japanese Comfort Food, YUM!I'd heard of this spot before and the yummy Japanese food here, and finally got around to giving it a try - I most certainly feel glad that I did!I grew up with many of the staples here being favorites of mine from my Japanese grandmother whenever we would visit her. From the House Udon to the Daichan Special, I thought the prices were great for a variety of tasty and flavorful plates and bowls of udon to enjoy!Something to keep in mind - it fills up quite fast inside! The space is packed with a good amount of tables, but it's still a bit small. While we arrived before 6PM and were able to be seated right away, I soon noticed a line of people forming outside, waiting for tables to open up.Speaking of the interior, it's so quirky and cozy inside, with scores of beautiful and colorful Japanese artwork and decor lining all the walls and hanging from the ceiling.Such a fun and unique dining space to enjoy!Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Daichan, and highly recommend giving it a visit - at least once, even if you're not a huge fan of Japanese cuisine!

I felt so cozy here. Small little hole in the wall family restaurant. Best beef teriyaki I’ve had, so soft and tender. Some of the best & freshest yellow tail sashimi I’ve had as well!

awesome sake offerings, absolutely delicious food. this last time i brought my dad and cousin along with a couple of friends. my family had never been here before and they both loved everything. we tried the curry for the first time and holy shit, might be my new favorite thing on the menu. daichan literally never disappoints. the owners/servers are so nice and i *love* the maximalist decor.

If you feel like having a home cooked meal but no one to cook for you, this is the place to go. It feels like you're visiting your favorite aunty's house, beautiful trinkets everywhere decorating the walls, a cozy feeling as soon as you walk into the doors. The service was quick and kind, they made sure our waters and tea cups were full the whole time. The food satisfied our souls! We left so happy and will definitely be back.

Daichan was recommended by my Japanese colleagues as “authentic” so I was very excited to try it. Absolutely loved everything about the place. The food and service were fantastic. I love eating at unassuming restaurants that focus on food and service vs trying to be fancy. It’s a small restaurant that gets very busy so you will need to be patient. Can’t wait to go back and try all the other dishes.

What a lovely little hole in the wall type Japanese comfort food restaurant. I had the pleasure of dining here for dinner and lunch on two separate weekdays. There was a little bit of a wait during dinner, but no wait for a late lunch. Please check hours since they close for a short period midday. For dinner we had unagi bowl, sukiyaki, and hamachi poki. Also has dessert steamed cheesecake and tempura green tea ice cream. For lunch we had unagi bowl, chicken Katsu curry, and salmon roll and scallop roll. Appetizer of steamed chicken gyoza. Very friendly service. The women working here are Japanese. (This isn't one of those Japanese restaurants owned/run by other Asians lol.) The portions were good. Just enough to be very full. Not enough for a box. But definitely satisfied. Loved the unagi bowl. Two large pieces. Perfect amount of rice to accompany it. Sukiyaki was a little different than some other places but still very tasty. Hamachi poki was very fresh. Loved the flavor of the Katsu curry but personally wasn't a fan of the side pasta salad with watermelon slice. Good quality fresh fish. The steamed cheesecake is subtly sweet. More like a sponge cake than an American cheesecake. If you're in town for Universal Studios definitely check them out. It's a lot better than the expensive and mediocre theme park food and it's only about 1 mile away from the park!

Extremely popular mom and pop shop with a tiny parking lot and limited seating, this place has a guaranteed wait on the weekends. The service is kind and attentive and employees work hard to make sure drinks are filled and tables are cleared quickly. Decor is one of the definite draws with Japanese tchotchkes, masks and screen prints all over the walls drawing the eye while you wait for the food. This is definitely home style food. Like if you have Japanese friends or have a fairly decent home cook friend, this is what you would find at home. Personally I would rate the food a solid three but the agedashi tofu bumped it up a star. That appetizer was so well executed with a great contrast of textures fried, creamy, crispy. Absolutely must get. We also got the garlic baby squid which was not our cup of tea. The katsu curry and sukiyaki were also solidly ok in execution. Not sure if I would return but I could recommend to others who might be in the mood for homey Japanese food .

Great service, highly recommend that you make a reservation 1-2 days in advance to not wait outside. We ordered 4 plates and hot tea for 4 people. They're balanced and nourishing. The sashimi is excellent quality, would orden again. This is definitely a place to enjoy yummy Japanese American home cuisine when you're not in the mood to cook!

The best japanese restaurant I have ever visited. The food is outstanding and also the service is great. We ate the fried tofu and curry based on her recommendation. It was so good that we came back and ordered the same dish again.
