Food was excellent and service was good. The only thing was the taste of the ginger. It had an odd flavor and I generally love ginger at sushi houses
We have been going to this restaurant for 10+ years. They treat everyone like they are a regular. The customer service is outstanding and the food is fantastic.
The sushi was delicious! My biggest and only issue was the time in which we got our food. My partner and I were seated at a table at the entrance and later ordered spicy garlic edamame, spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, albacore sushi, and a salmon roll. Which, were all delicious! But, we didn't receive each item till 10min between each other. It was busy and they hand make their rolls of course so I thought maybe that was how they did service. It wasn't till a couple got seated 15-20min after us and orders were taken right away and they got all 4 of their rolls(all speciality rolls) at once and we still hadn't received 2 of our rolls.
Teru is one my regular go to restaurants. However, on 1/15/26 my experience was not the best. I had a reservation at 7:15. It look my friend and I a very long time to receive our sushi rolls. Other tables were being brought their food in a timely manner expect for ours. Our waitress did not check on us. I had to ask her to refill my water. The waitress came by 20 minutes after we had put in our order to ask if we got our food and we had told her we did not. It wasn't until this interaction until we got our food. By this time our water cups were empty but as we got our 6 rolls we still were not asked if we would like more water. Usually, service here is great and fast. I am not sure what happened on this night.
Very good tempura and teriyaki. Neither of us had sushi, but this is a great place for those who like Japanese food, but prefer it COOKED. Service was exceptionally good
Service and food - always great but you guys really need to fix your wobbly tables, please!
The food was really good and the service was great. This is a really good some for date night.
Our favorite sushi restaurant! Happy to see it busy with customers, however, as pleasant as our servers were my wife's order and mine arrived late even though all 4 of us ordered at the same time. This review should not keep anyone from dining at this outstanding restaurant!
I love this place so much! It's consistently great food and service and I love it more each time I go with my family. It's family owned and run and they are such nice and hospitable people. Pro tip- get the green goddess roll- it's delicious!
Had an issue with our first server but the manager quickly made up for this and even competed our drinks. Needless to say we really appreciated this and look forward to returning soon. Having returned for dinner after living out of town for many years, it was nice to see this wonderful place doing as well as ever. Easy to understand given the quality of the food and its very caring management!

Excellent service, fast, friendly, informative. Happy hour menu was such a great value. Fresh and tasty.
TL;DR: Veteran sushi spot that delivers. Clean cuts, creative rolls, sharp service, and a smooth dinner flow.
We pivoted here after a bad vibe elsewhere and I’m glad we did. Shoutout to the service from Satomi, she was warm and efficient. The kitchen moves fast without losing detail. The Spicy Tuna Rice Cake is excellent with real crunch and balanced heat. Signature rolls hit hard: Sexy Roll, Latino Roll, and Mango Roll all tasted fresh with distinct textures. Dessert was a win too, the Teru vanilla brownie with ice cream.
Room feels cozy and lively, not chaotic. Drinks are solid. This is easily top tier on Ventura for roll-forward sushi and consistency.
Pro Tips:
• Start with the Spicy Tuna Rice Cake.
• Add halibut carpaccio for something light.
• Pick one classic and one signature roll to compare.
• Save space for dessert.

Teru Sushi absolutely lives up to its reputation! A friend recommended it as the first (and best) sushi restaurant in the San Fernando Valley, and they weren’t wrong. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff made us feel right at home. The highlight of the night was meeting the owner, Mike, who went above and beyond — he gave us a tour of the charming back patio with the koi pond and even showed us the private dining area. A true gem in the Valley and a must-visit for any sushi lover!
