Amazing, fresh food! Salmon is excellent!! It's inside a liquor store so no place to eat it there but great for takeout!

Phenomenal food! We had low expectations when we stopped by BLUEFISH for a late lunch and we were blown away. The bowls were incredibly fresh. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a veggie and protein packed lunch that is a flavor bomb. We sat outside on the bar to eat and it was perfect.

All smiles after hiking for miles, this eco-concious kitchen tucked in the corner of The Sips Liquor Store was a serendipitous suggestion by the cosmic intelligence committee. Nevermind the rowdy boys day drinking in the liquor store clubhouse, it adds to the charm of this place, as you dip your chopsticks into your poke bowl and fill your pie hole with delicious, highest quality food. A better lunch cannot be found this side of the Tahoe Lake for twice the price!

Blue Fish is located toward the back of a cute liquor store called Sips, where you could also grab a nice drink and enjoy your bowl.

Within Blue Fish’s corner nook, they carry Japanese snacks which were nice to browse while I waited. I had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to come back out of the kitchen to place my order — I didn’t mind since I wasn’t in much of a rush. The woman returned with 6 bowls for two different customers so I imagine she’s working alone back there.

Now the Poke Bowl: I ordered a salmon poke bowl with 1/2 white rice, 1/2 leafy greens, creamy yuzu togarashi, scallion, cucumber, seaweed salad, crab salad, avocado, edamame, pineapple, pickled ginger, wasabi, masago, furikake, garlic chips, crispy onion, and nore seaweed.

I surprisingly thought it was pretty good! The sauce was delicious, the rice was warm & fluffy, the poke to sauce ratio was on point. $18+ worthy? I’m not sure but that’s a different story.

I docked a star because there were a few ingredients missing in my bowl which included avocado, pineapple, and wasabi. I wasn’t too upset considering I didn’t have to pay extra for these but it would have been nice for her to mention (I imagine she ran out of ingredients since it was close to closing which is 3pm.. so I understand)

However, I did enjoy my meal — I actually split it with my boyfriend as a snack so that we could have space for dinner and we both enjoyed this light meal.

I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for decent a poke fix while you’re in Tahoe.

Very good food. Would definitely eat here again. Only downside is there is very few places to sit.

Decent poke, nothing to rave about but nothing major to complain about either. $18 per bowl is a bit pricey given the small portions, but since it's near the lake I assume things are pricey in general in this area. It did take a very, very long time to get our food which is surprising. The poke places I have been to typically get the bowls done in less than 10 minutes, but here we waited about 45 minutes before getting our food. We were told that it's because there was only one person working both the register and making the food, so perhaps this place needs to rethink its staffing to improve on the food times.

Ended up not ordering anything after watching them make several orders before me. He was using both hands to put all the ingredients into the bowls but only had a glove on one hand. He was constantly touching his month with the ungloved hand then putting it into the ingredients. He also did not appear to change gloves between customer interactions. He did appear to be the only one working and was a bit frazzled so hopefully this was not the norm.

If this is the best to Tahoe has to offer and people rate it so high then people must not have had any decent poke ever. I ordered salmon and tuna and only got something that was supposed to be tuna but taste more like a white fish. The rice was fine but half of the things I checked off were missing. This is also located in a store so no atmosphere.

I'm not entirely sure why there is a really solid poke shope and japanese snack mart in the liqour store, but who am I to question genius?
