River Ranch Lodge & Restaurant

My husband loved, loved the veggie risotto. I had the French onion soup and was very surprised and pleased with how delicious and large the serving was.

Our server was amazing.we had a view of the river. Great food. Really enjoyed our afternoon. After our meal, we hung out on the veranda and enjoyed the peaceful waters of the Truckee River while taking pictures of the scenery.

We had a very very poor experience yesterday evening (April 5, 2025). Perhaps just a bad day for the team at River Ranch. Food: * salmon under cooked and raw. * pasta overcooked and mushy. Those were over comable items, as everyone as different taste. But what was unforgivable, was being ingnored for several minutes upon check in. We were at the resturaunt early and before dinner rush, with reservations. There were empty tables and no line, so this was not a capacity issue. But again forgivable on its own. Then after our dinner and bill was paid. We were asked to leave by a hostess (not even our server), "so they could make room for more people". We were not loud or rude beforehand so our behavior could not be the issue. They table next us was not asked to leave. They were there before us, and had recieved their bill etc. we felt singled out. Any one of these items by themselves forgivable. But all together, it was a deal breaker. We have eaten at the River Ranch several times over the years, and this was aweful, and we probably will not return. As we didn't feel appreciated or treated well as customers.

River Ranch dining experience can be whatever you'd like it to be -a high end dining or burgers and nachos. We did a bit of both. We had excellent service by Sam One tiny disappointment was I couldn't wait to have the halibut but upon ordering found out they were out of it. I ended up going in a totally different direction with the nachos which ended up being great. Dining companion had the stroganoff and loved it. Our table was overlooking Truckee river and views were lovely. Would definitely recommend!

We had a great time with happy hour last night with a simple dinner. Even nicer evening tonight drinks to start at the bar and then , wine and a full dinner at the table next to the river. Waitstaff was excellent (both night!) really friendly and professional. Appreciate that! Food was lovely and we had a nice table next to the river and took our time having dinner and talking. It was a really nice moment after a day of skiing. Will be back! Thanks!

Unique spot on river that's got great history. Food was delicious, enjoyed the wedge salad and some great enteees like elk, bison short rib. Fabulous servers. Mine was Simone.

A favorite for many years. The service was great, the food delicious and we'll be back soon!

Terrible food and a total rip off

We decided to stay here solely by chance and we were VERY happy with the decision. The rooms are great and the food at the restaurant was excellent! This is a must try and the bar is great. Truly where the locals go but probably don’t tell anyone.

Solid patio pit stop for a simple brew and shnacky shnack! Nachos are baked, crispy, tasty!

Very noisy, hard to hear each other talk across the table. I wish we sat next to each other at the bar. Bar was very busy too. There was a football game on which we also enjoyed. That may of been why it was so noisy or the high ceiling.

Extremely rude staff doing food service. Seemingly bothered if asked for any assistance. Clearly this place takes customers for granted based on how they treat them and hopefully people realize there are much better nearby options. Food was decent. Avoid.

Exactly as advertised, room was very cute and overlooked the river. With the window closed it was quieter than the fan. Some reviews said the main restaurant was bad but it was actually great, except for the bread roll which was pretty dry. No complaints except for that there was a fly in the room and that was annoying for a while.
