For the price, the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls and specialty rolls are very good. I wasn't impressed with the Chinese dishes. Many are mainland Chinese style where bones and bone fragments are normal in these dishes, making these hard to eat for someone not used to bite carefully and then spitting out bones in front of guests, etc. It may be acceptable in China and in front of Chinese guests.Parking: May have to park further away during busy meal times. I think it's owned by the same people running the Red 99 Grill bistro on the same block that also draws many customers. Shiki buffet also draws customers and parking close to the restaurant may be difficult during meal times.

This is my third time dining here, and this time we ordered the $550 set menu. The portion size was generous, and the dishes were amazing. The red snapper sashimi was incredibly tender, the lobster sashimi was refreshing and crunchy, and there was a wide variety of sashimi in the sashimi salad. The spicy and numbing pig's trotters were soft and sticky, providing a satisfying combination of flavors. There were seven of us, and we couldn't finish it all; we ended up taking a lot home. Highly recommend this set menu.

I've been a regular at this place even when they used to be located at their old location in San Gabriel. The wait times have gone down significantly ever since COVID and prices have gradually increased over the years. I usually order a bento combo of teriyaki chicken and spicy tuna roll. Wait time for the food to arrive has always been abnormally long though. The teriyaki chicken is always soft, moist, and lightly sauced, which I find to be delicious. Their spicy tuna rolls are also packed with tuna. I have also tried their sashimi, salmon collar, and teriyaki beef. They were all very tasty, and the sashimi cuts are always thick.Overall, the food is great. I ended up giving them a 4 star instead of 5 because of the ever increasing cost. One bento costed over 20 dollars for lunch and the portions aren't that great. It used to be well worth the money, but those days are long gone. I still recommend trying this place out at least once.

Good food. Ordered around $200 worth of sushi and their Wednesday half price lobster. Would definitely recommend for a good time and miso soups

Never tried this place until last week when one of my best friends invited us for dinner here. Sashimi was so fresh and the portion was big. Their Shanghai style cuisine was very authentic. Highly recommend.

GOOD FOOD & GREAT FOR CELEBRATIONSThere is a lot of food options here, ranging from cold food like sushi and rolls and hot food like fried rice and soup! Loved the hand rolls here, always so delicious! This is a great place for celebrations, birthdays, drinks, karaoke, business dinners, round table dinners, and more! The service is always great! You have the option to book rooms here for your party. If you are in a room, they always come in to check on you!

Icho Izakaya: Where Generous Portions Meet A Rushed Service.Nestled in a spacious plaza, parking at Icho Izakaya is a breeze, ensuring a smooth start to your dining experience. Once inside, the lunch special stands out immediately. At $19.95, the portion size is commendably generous, especially when juxtaposed against what's typically offered at similar establishments nowadays. However, the dining experience takes a peculiar turn when it comes to their service tempo. The staff seems to have an uncanny knack for swooping in and clearing plates at record speed. While efficiency is usually appreciated, there were moments I felt like I was racing against the clock to savor my ginger and wasabi. It's as if there's an invisible timer set, and they're eyeing each plate, ready to whisk it away.Customer service, in general, seems to be a bit of a mixed bag. While the restaurant wasn't bustling during my visit, the interactions felt disjointed. Multiple servers would drop off dishes, some with barely a glance or acknowledgment. And on my way out, despite walking right past two chatting waiters, not a nod or a 'thank you' was exchanged. On the brighter side, there was a particularly memorable waiter - seemingly of Mexican descent, yet impressively fluent in Mandarin. His presence added a unique touch to the overall experience. In summary, Icho Izakaya offers a paradoxical blend of generous lunch servings and hurried service. While the food might pull you in, be prepared for a dining experience that feels a tad rushed.
