This is the Del Amo Village, Torrance outlet of the Taiwanese chain restaurant Ba Fang Dumplings. It’s diagonally across from the Starbucks shop near by. It’s a limited menu dumpling and noodle shop that is run like a fast food restaurant. Dumplings are quite good and the Ba Fang Special Noodles which is similar to Dan Dan noodles was just average. I think it would be best to stick with the dumplings and potstickers and perhaps the spicy beef soup noodles. Personally I think these dumplings are too expensive at about $1 per dumpling. Also their simple noodles at $7 for a tiny bow is over priced. However they also offer boba tea drinks at $5 each. You can buy frozen dumplings to cook at home as well. They have a sauce station where you can pick up garlic sauce, chili sauce, vinegar, and soy sauce for your dumplings.

Open and bright restaurant.
Staff are friendly and efficient.
New menu item me minced pork rice with pork chop. Might want to let them know to drizzle the minced pork over the rice instead of pork chop.

Complete waste of my money.
Don't get any noodle soup as a to-go order. They put the noodles by themselves and they clump up into one inseparable and inedible mass.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
Great place. Plenty of seating.

This is a clean little eatery that offers Asian foods such as noodles and various chicken dishes that are tasty and we'll worth trying. There are several different sauces to season your dishes or enjoy them just the way that they are because they are all good. They offer Bobas too to compliment your meal.

The food was really bland and boring. We ordered dry old fashioned and signature style bafang noodles, first of all its not mentioned anywhere that it doesn't come with any protein option. Just plain noodles with no veggies, no protein in it. Paid over $40 for that tasteless food.

The service is OK since you order your meal at the counter and find your own table. The real problem with this Torrance store is the cook. We had several meals at this place. Whenever the owner/main cooks are not in the kitchen, the noodle meals tends to be over-sweet. In anther words, the food quality is not consistent, especially for the price they charge you.

There are few culinary journeys more humbling than the pursuit of authenticity along the commercial corridors of modern dining. On a recent sojourn through Torrance, California, I found myself drawn to Bafang Dumplings, lured by the promise of something more earnest than the perfunctory offerings of Panda Express, yet self-aware enough to understand that this was no back-alley gem of Taipei.
With expectations tempered, I opted for the combo platter, pairing their signature potstickers with the kimchi & pork dumplings, hedging my bets on the establishment’s titular specialty. Here lies the irony—the potstickers, golden-crisp and balanced between toothsome chew and juicy interior, outshone the dumplings entirely. They were, dare I say, delicious, a rare commendation from my lips. The sear was well executed, the filling flavorful, a composition that spoke of care even within commercial confines.
The dumplings, however, faltered. Laden with the same filling options, they lacked the textural drama of their pan-fried cousins. Instead, they emerged as underwhelming vessels—steamed parcels promising much but delivering little. And so, the dish that bore the restaurant’s name became its most notable shortcoming, a disappointment that resonated louder for the expectation it failed to meet.
A selection of dipping sauces did their valiant best to prop up the experience. The brown garlic sauce—bold and unapologetic—stood out, while the chili sauce offered a warming balance, and even the classic soy found its place. The sesame oil, however, fell to the wayside, subdued in a cast of stronger personalities.
To wash it all down, a sweet iced black lemon tea provided a welcome reprieve, its tannic base sharpened by citrus and softened by sugar—a delicate finale to a meal of contrasts.
Would I return? Perhaps. The potstickers alone warrant a second glance. And given that the cashier informed me that the dumplings could be filled with the same signature blend, I might grant them one more opportunity to redeem their name.
But let it be said plainly: a restaurant named for its dumplings ought never let the potstickers steal the show.
Rating: 3.5/5 – A commercial echo of tradition, elevated by its potstickers but undermined by its namesake.

I visited Bafang Dumpling recently and was impressed by how well-organized and clean the place was. The service was friendly, which I definitely appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself was underwhelming.
In my opinion, the dumplings didn’t stand out and tasted similar to what you might find in the frozen aisle at a grocery store—which isn’t what I was hoping for from a dine-in experience. Of course, this is just my personal take, and others may feel differently.
Overall, I’d give it a 6 out of 10 and, sadly, wouldn’t recommend it.
