I signed up for an elite event and was really excited to try this place out and to my surprise it's a spot I've tried out many years ago. This restaurant have been here for a long minute and I've totally forgot about it. It's inside a huge shopping center so there's ample amount of parking.

First impression: you walk into a metal gate with covid warning sign. It brought back a lot of bad memories and Was wondering why this is still up. Did you not get the memo? (See pic) and then I proceeded to wait 24 minutes for the server to get us a table when the place was more then 2/3 empty with reservation signs on all the empty tables. I thought I was suppose to call for reservation but remembered another elite's review saying they walked right in and got seated right away. Apparently that's not the case for me. Am not sure if they're short staffed on a Saturday night as I only see a couple of servers working. Also the empty reserved tables never filled up while I was there.

Finally got seated and ordered the creamy crab pasta, calamari, and seafood chips. I asked the waitress to help me chose between fried oyster, fried chicken and seafood chips and her reply was they're all very different and I can't compare them for you. But out of curiosity I got the seafood chips and am glad because it was the bomb dot com. The calamari was a fail for me as the batter taste like onion ring batter and I was expecting something lighter and better for a Japanese establishment. Honestly for the price and portion I had high expectation. The creamy crab pasta was good. The noodles could be a bit harder but no complaints. I don't remember how much crab was in the cream sauce as it felt underwhelming.

Overall: the long wait for no reason and the unwelcoming vibe is definitely a deterrent for my return. They kept refilling our water and that's about all I can say for the service. While I was conversing, they cleared up the table and brought the check. I felt like they were kicking us out despite the place being empty. Also they have jazz radio on. Yes radio with all the commercials. *smh

The Baseline: For Japanese restaurant the offerings must have the base ingredients of rice, noodles, fish, chicken, salads (aemono), and garnishes (nori/aenori), preparations must be treated well, and the environment must be welcoming.

Food: The offerings here are mainly Japanese but this is really a fusion of Italian dishes with Japanese flair. The appetizer dishes we had were the fried chicken which was a chicken Karaage that was well seasoned with a good dipping sauce and the eggplant and meat sauce gratin which had too many bulky pieces of eggplant which made it slightly a difficult eating situation. The flavors for both dishes were good though. The seafood dip and chips had a good wasabi flavor for the dipping sauce but the tortilla chips dealt out of place for the theme making me at least wanting Italian bread pieces instead. For Entree dishes, we had the Spaghetti Vongole Japanese style, Spaghetti Carbonara, and Spaghetti Sea Urchin. The Vongole had some smaller sized clams with a mix of nori and buttery sauce which was an okay dish and I understand the intent of the dish but in essence it made me want a traditional white wine sauce with traditional Italian flavors for the clams. The Carbonara was really good and it hit the marks of a good carbonara with a good cream sauce and bacon. The Uni was also a good attempt at fusion but I am not the biggest Uni fan but the spaghetti was a bit oily in the dish. The other notable food item was the fried potatoes side dish which was pretty good but in essence it was fried potatoes side dish.

Service: Good service but I ended up having multiple servers which was a bit confusing. I ended up having a full water glass and my needs were taken of during the visit.

Ambiance: It was a nice bar/restaurant that uses an industrial theme for the inside. I was not a fan of the chain link fencing but I did like the distressed steel plating on the walls. The bathroom was clean and serviced.

While I was here for a Yelp event with some friends, we were able to try some of the other things they had on their menu. We ordered the black pepper chicken, some sort of seafood dip with tortilla chips, the carbonara and then some mochi pizza.

It did take a while for the food to come out but honestly, we were not too mad about it. Would rather wait for the food to come out tasting good than it coming out half-assed and tasting meh. The chicken was brought out first and this was honestly the best dish out of everything. It was crispy and breaded to perfection and the sauce it came with was the cherry on top. The seafood dip was alright, the dip was definitely overpowered by the taste of wasabi. The carbonara was good, not as heavy as the crab butter pasta I had and came in a fair portion. The pizza was definitely not the best. It tasted very strange, but I think it was because of what came on it, like mochi and seaweed. It sounded interesting and it was but I did not like it personally.

Other than that, everything else was pretty good. The service was good, the waitress we had was very cordial with us and asked us how we liked each plate after she brought it out. The interior was also real cozy. It was not a very big space, though it looks like it from the outside.

Bistro Beaux is a spot in my neighborhood - they are located across from Daiso and Frostbites in the plaza by the Miyako Hotel.

On a Saturday evening - 45 minute wait. Once seated, service was quick and pretty smooth. Got the lemon sour, fried mochi with prosciutto (this was delicious, and probably good to share…I ate all of it lol), and for my pasta, the spaghetti peperoncino with shrimp and shiso. It was light and flavorful. I could taste the shiso, and the shrimp was cooked well - not rubbery.

I will definitely come back. Great Japanese Italian option in Central Torrance.

While visiting Los Angeles on vacation, I stumbled upon this delightful Japanese Italian fusion restaurant. I feel so lucky to have made this unexpected discovery. I was unaware that there is an entire history of Japanese Italian fusion. What.a fascinating mix! I love it, and I enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Even the simplest dishes, such as pickled celery, came to life with awesome flavor. The seafood was super fresh. I plan to return for the pasta. I had the most amazing desert, mango pudding,(one of their specials of the evening). The service was extremely polite and efficient. I valued the friendliness and patience of the server, who was super helpful in explaining the unique aspects of this fusion menu to me. I love this restaurant!

I love this restaurant so much I don’t even live in Torrance, but drove from Hollywood for 45 mins to eat here 2 weeks in a row!Their veggie sticks is a must try! It comes with this pink yummy sauce which I believe fish egg in it. Since my friend took me there 2 years ago, I tried many different items, but pretty much everything’s so tasty! I love their spaghetti too. So far I tried Sea urchin, Squid ink and tonight carbonara sauce which was pretty big portion for me. The employee and the customers are pretty much all Japanese people and that’s kind of pretty odd to me, but then I speak Japanese like everyone else so it’s cool I guess. They open late so it’s very convenient for late night dining.

We visited Friday evening with my friend. Food, drink are good however we are very disappointed with one of the hall staff lady. She kept telling us going away even though there are many open tables. The worst was that our bill was about $58 and gave her $80 with expecting getting change. However she took all the money by herself and never came back. We claimed it and she look reluctantly gave us back the change. Atmosphere was very good so very disappointed with the lady

Love Beaux, I can stop by for a quick drink and some appetizers to full dinner 🥘 I just love that this place reminds me of Tokyo back in my young days in Tokyo lol 😂 great cocktails and awesome Japanese whiskies🥃 Waitresses are super friendly and attentive, and this place is great for Nijikai nightcap as well ✨

Service was very slow since the moment we walked in. From getting someone’s attention to be seated, to putting in our orders and the speed of food served.I got a glass of Toki whiskey on the rocks. Not only it already tasted washed out when it got to the table but also appeared to be a quite small pour ~ I’m not convinced there’s even a shot in it.We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees. The appetizer came out 1 by 1 with about 10 minutes space in between. The entrees took another 20 minutes to come after we finished the last appetizer. Food was okay. Severs are nice but I think they are understaffed and they are spread really thin.
