Hermosa Brewing's taproom in Torrance is located in a stretch of light industrial buildings along Del Amo Boulevard, a few doors down from Smog City's brewery and taproom and a block away from the Scientology of Beer, those insanely overrated IPA peddlers at Monkish. Unfortunately, Hermosa's beers are aggressively forgettable, often quite mediocre. A holiday oatmeal stout was overloaded with clove; a Kölsch was overhopped and dirty; lagers were brittle and wan. Nothing was flat-out terrible, necessarily; instead, everything just had a sort of mall brewpup quality about it ― the kind of beer made from a kit at a place where no one really goes for the beer. Given that, and with no kitchen or anything else other than industrial offices (and two better-known taprooms) nearby, Hermosa's Torrance taproom really is not a destination. If you somehow just couldn't manage to get your fill of beer at Monkish or Smog City, then I guess drop in to Hermosa. Better yet, just pick up a twelve-pack at the 7-Eleven and head home.

we love this place! The atmosphere is fun with chill vibes. Huge space. They have dozens of pin ball games, old school pac man, jumbo Jenga, comfy couches.. dogs are allowed/Kid friendly.. There’s always a nice mix of people when I’ve been, plus the guy that works weekend nights is nice eye candy ? I think his name is James.excited to get our group together for their trivia nights, starting this Tuesday.Besides all that they have really good beer! Surprisingly, my favorite during our last visit was this earl grey tea beer. I forgot the name but definitely worth a try!The only con I can say is they need better lighting on their business signs on Del Amo Blvd. especially with it getting darker earlier, it’s hard to see where they are, kinda hidden. Unless you’ve been before, you’d have no idea it was there once the sun goes down. A few lights at the entrance would probably go a long way for business. All in all, solid establishment. ?

I was on a quest to find a lunch spot near work where I could eat and play some pinball. I was pleasantly surprised to find Hermosa Brewing in Torrance (thanks, Yelp) and thought I would give it a try today. Made the 15 minute drive and the parking lot was completely empty which wasn't a good sign. I walked in, saw all of the empty tables and asked if they were serving lunch. I got the reply that the food truck would come later and that they only had pizza? I was completely confused. Maybe food is served at later hours? The website shows a fairly full menu, so maybe this is only at the Hermosa Beach location and they don't have a kitchen at the Torrance location??? So, I played pinball (basically an all Stern collection) on an empty, growling stomach (great selection and pins are all in good shape). Will come back for the pinball, but no lunch was disappointing. A little warm in the pinball area, but other than that - great room. 4 stars for the pinball only.
