But serious question, if there is a bush and you only shave one side, it is now two face. Which side is the ugly side: bald or hairy?

After a bit of a false start to our evening elsewhere, The Pastime Club ended up being exactly what we needed.
We stopped in while waiting for a table nearby and were immediately welcomed by Jeff, who set the tone for the rest of the night. Relaxed, friendly, and genuinely present. No rush, no attitude, just solid hospitality.
The space itself has that classic Truckee character. Lively but not chaotic. Easy to settle into. The kind of place where you can actually exhale, have a conversation, and reset your evening.
Jeff made us feel like locals passing through, not tourists killing time, and that matters. Sometimes a great drink and the right person behind the bar can completely change the direction of a night, and this was one of those times.
I’d absolutely stop back in again, whether waiting on a table or just looking for a good place to start or end the evening in Truckee.

I was told this was a dog friendly bar, so I brought my 6mo lab in so I could get a few drinks and socialize her. We ordered drinks and when my mom went to the bathroom, she let out a quiet bark. There were very few people in the bar, one of them being an off shift bartender named Jeff. Jeff was super rude and off-putting, saying things like “you shouldn’t bring your dog into a bar” and refusing to let the other bartender give her a treat to calm her nerves. He was clearly in a mood and drinking didn’t seem to help him. Being drunk at his place of work and scaring off paying customers on a slow night is not a great look for him, or the bar that employs him. I’m very conscious that my dog is not a service animal, and I would never bring her into places that were not specifically pet friendly. Had I known this bar (more so this off shift bartender) was not pet friendly, I would’ve never brought her in. A really terrible experience for me and my mother who drove 4+ hours to visit my sister in Truckee. Please have the owner update their pet policy if only perfectly trained dogs (aka service animals) are allowed in. And to Jeff, she IS a GOOD dog whose still learning to navigate the world. I’m really sorry you felt like you needed some sort of control in your life as a bartender at your big age, I hope that weird power trip made you feel better. Next time skip the drink after work and be miserable at home, the paying customers deserve to have a good experience despite your personal issues.

We were walking down the street, wanting to find a bar for a fun night out. We heard a hip hop song through the doors and a friendly bouncer interacted with us and charmed us in as we walked passed it.
We sat down and the vibes were just right. A hometown bar with fun murals and knickknacks. We sat down and were surprised to hear R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, and Hyphy music. The bouncer turned bartender was a true highlight of the bar and he made us feel oh so welcomed! We ended up staying through a few lull moments and busy moments.
We thought our night was winding down, then a DJ set up and the bar was PACKED! The DJ played to the crowd wonderfully and made the vibes immaculate, EVERYONE was dancing.
Don’t leave without getting taking a Shotski with your friends!

As this is just a hole in the wall type of place ( which influences the homey small time vibe greatly) Jeff, the star of the show, was an amazing bartender, more than anything his service is what will bring me back
