We visited lake tahoe a couple of weeks ago staying with friends and decided to eat downtown , we stumbled across this Italian restaurant. As soon as we walked in you could smell the beautiful aromas of italian cooking . We had not made a reservation so we had a 30minute wait but It Was Definitely worth the wait .
The food was delicious, the best ravioli I have had ever tasted and I have dined in the best in London UK but this little Gem of a place beats them all hands down , from the attentive greeter at the front of house the minute we walked in ...to the Chef Smiley making our Wedding anniversary so special bringing out a chocolate dessert .
We will definitely be returning to this place .

Disappointing experience. We started off strong... the Caprese (we love their pesto!), the soup, and even the bread (even though they now charge for it) were all excellent as usual. Unfortunately, things turned when the Ravioli Bolognese arrived (two orders), both very undercooked. We’ve been ordering this dish for years and know how good it should be. I usually prefer pasta al dente, but it was simply raw. Our server, Greg, was hard to find most of the evening, and when we finally flagged him down, we mentioned the issue. He did offer to replace the dishes, but by then we were done, knowing it would take too long and had another appointment to keep. When the bill arrived, we expected at least a small gesture... waiving the corkage fee, the bread, or perhaps offering a dessert. Instead, Greg responded with an unexpectedly aggressive attitude. It’s disappointing to see how much the service has declined since Tom and Nicole sold the restaurant. It would have been so easy to respond in a different manner. After 25 years of living in Truckee and dining here, it saddens us to say we won’t be returning.

OK, this place has all the exterior attitude of a high-end successful restaurant, but it's obvious they make their money at the bar, not the food. I asked for a recommendation on the wine from the bartender and two of the three wines he served to me were oxidized, flat and obviously had been opened a long time ago. The food was a huge disappointment. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu, which was the Rack of Lamb ($62) , and the pesto sauce was so bland I didn't even taste it. It came on top of a very unappetizing bed of tomatoes, red onions, red peppers, and mushrooms in a slimy, dull sauce. Then out of nowhere, there are 5 small ricotta-filled raviolis, but encased in rubber-like pasta. Not creative, not skillful, nor inspired. Just ham-fisted execution. My wife and daughter ordered pasta that was bland and not very good, considering the huge price tag. Service was not "friendly" but busy and bothered. You are not encouraged to ask questions or have a conversation. So, we all felt taken for a ride after the meal. Sort of like they tricked us into thinking we were going to have a fine dining experience when we could have gone to any pub in town and had the same quality food for more than three times the cost.

Great place for a good Italian dinner. Interesting wine list. And very professional, knowledgeable and attentive server. Make sure you ask for a table with Desiree

We have visited Pianeta multiple times. I recommend advance reservations as they are very busy. The food is amazing. If you order the Caesar Salad, it will serve two-three people, so keep that in mind. I have to give a shout out to our amazing server from the other night...Amandine! She provided excellent service with a smile and we appreciated it. I couldn't give overall 5 stars as our food took quite some time to be delivered, but this restaurant earns a near 5 stars!

We ate at this restaurant twice: the first time as walk-ins at the bar and the second time we had a reservation. Both times all of the staff were extremely helpful and food and wine choices. It seemed that all of the staff enjoys working at the restaurant. The wine is reasonably priced and food was delicious both times! The food is basically Italian but with some innovative updates. Highly recommend.

A bit on the expensive side but food was good.

Everything was pretty good except for my steak, tough and extra long time bringing it to the table

This restaurant is a real family. The employees are all very supportive of each other and they work like a well oiled team. I saw no evidence of animosity or conflict. I only saw an incredible And best of all, the food is outrageously great tasting!

Delicious, homemade pasta, quaint, seems like a lot of locals go there. Great service! Made reservations and they had a perfect corner table ready on a busy night.

They killed it tonight. Were accommodating, friendly staff, sous chef even came by to drop off a plate. One of the best meals I've ever had. We did the pappardelle special, the rib eye with gnocchi and enjoied both so much. Would go out of our way to visit again.

Loved my time here. The staff was welcoming and super knowledgeable and the wine and food were amazing. A bit on the more expensive side but completely worth it.

I've always wanted to eat here and aim glad I finally did.

The food is delicious, and the drinks were handcrafted and made to perfection.

I highly recommend that if you're heading to truckee to check this spot out.

I ordered the sausage and meat sauce and they were very good and the bread is very good too.
