I really look forward to going to this place, they have the best fries i have ever had, their chicken sandwich is awesome too. They have a good selection of beer but sadly every time i have been there they are out of several of their own options. On my last visit they where also out of essential ingredients to make basic bar drinks; but i was truly disappointed when my children ordered a dessert that came with a sort of frosting thing on it and they brought it without, so we basically had a flavorless expensive donut hole plate, when i told them that they forgot (so that they would bring it) they said "oh yeah we are out" without caring one bit or offering a solution. All and all just know, we still like this place and will continue to go for their fries and due to the lack of other options near Donner. I truly hope they get it together, this is a place with so much potential

We had 9 people to eat dinner. I have never been treated so rude. The waitress was absolutely rude. We asked to sit inside her comment was "We can't split tables" Obviously they didn't need our business. I understand being short handed (I've been in the restaurant business) but you don't treat customers like that. Won't be back

Maybe the food is good here. I don’t know because I never got mine. I walked up to the entrance and there was a big sign that said “wait here to be seated”. I stood there for a few minutes until it became clear no one was coming outside, so I went inside and waited at another sign that said wait to be seated. A guy (who turned out to be the owner) was standing right there having a conversation with the nearest table. He looked at me and then went back to having his conversation. After a few minutes he turned to me and asked if I’d like to sit. I said yes, it’s just me. He said “you could sit at the bar, you’ll get served faster”. The place is tiny, with maybe 8 tables total, so I thought that was kind of a weird comment. I said sure and took a seat at the bar.
There were 2 bartenders and it took at least 5 minutes for either of them to acknowledge my existence despite my attempts to make eye contact. One of them finally did and took my order (a beer and burger). He poured me a beer and didn’t offer water. He then apparently finished his shift and left. I waited for my food for at least half an hour before trying to decide if I should ask someone to check on my food, since no one ever even looked at me after I ordered. Then I looked into the kitchen and saw one of the cooks on his phone and decided to just leave. I left cash for the beer, which was $9, and cut my losses.

Others who arrived before us and had been waiting for some time opted for another location. Hopefully they can find staff to help.

"Horrible Service – We Will NEVER EVER Return!" We recently had an awful experience at The Pub at Donner Lake. The service was beyond terrible, and the attitude of the management was shocking. When I spoke with the manager, Brian, about the poor service, he bluntly said he doesn't care about customer service and even told us to never come back.
I initially called to place a pickup order, but the bartender rudely refused. I mentioned that I would place the order online instead, but when I arrived, the kitchen was in complete chaos. The owner (Brian again) was short, snippy and RUDE, saying they were short-staffed. Honestly, if you can’t provide decent service, why even bother running a business?
We love supporting small businesses, but only those that value and appreciate their customers. Unfortunately, The Pub at Donner Lake clearly doesn’t. The menu is also quite limited and overpriced for what you get.
In the words of Taylor Swift, we will NEVER EVER be going back there.

We stumbled across this place on our trip to Donner Lake. This was the greasiest, most tasteless food I've ever ordered from a restaurant. Sorry but if I was the owner of this place I'd want some honest feedback. The pulled pork burger I got was like dipping my hands in a tub of melted butter. The place looks fun inside and out but the food needs serious help. The waitress was good. She did her job well. The food is over priced and is not good.
Parking: You can park across the street at the west end donner lake beach parking.

Not a pub! More of restaurant vibes. Kid friendly. Went in to watch england spain play, the match was on but no sound. Was told they only allow music.
Well where to start First off this the look of the establishment is quite fun and modern and very clean. The staff on the other hand was a difficult story. The staff that was there today July 3rd 2024 at 2pm was absolutely horrible. The waiter and bartender were complete P.O.S's and the bartender should mind it's own business next time . I waited over 40 minutes for some sandwiches No communication no apology and very combative. We ended up walking out because we came to go to Donner lake not to sit in a third rate restaurant all day.I would just bring a pack of hamburgers and BBQ at the lake because that's what I ended up doing. Avoid like the plague.

Strolled in here by accident after fishing all day around Donner Lake and was greeted by some super friendly staff and locals. Food was phenomenal and Austin and Zac were really welcoming. Thanks for having me guys, hope to be back again someday!
