We just had our anniversary dinner here. How does this restaurant not have a Michelin star? Some of the most incredible food we have ever had and it’s here in Truckee! We have been most disappointed with the truckee food scene especially for what it costs up here, but Trokay is absolutely worth the hype, expense, and your time. The flavors of every course were put together masterfully. I just wish we had gotten it together enough to come here sooner, what a gem to have in town. I hope anyone that is a foodie or just wants to be blown away by some amazing food/ flavors makes it to this restaurant. You will be impressed! The owners are amazing, just look at those resumes, and the service was wonderful. Definitely will be coming back!

Enjoyed the 4-course tasting menu with our granddaughter along with the wine pairing. We started with caviar for the table, which was a festive beginning. There were 2-3 options for each course so we all ordered something different, which meant we were able to taste everything. The flavors were amazing and every item was a winner. The service was attentive and friendly. The unique wines paired with each course perfectly. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are a foodie and want a memorable evening.

I just celebrated my 56th birthday with my wife on the North Shore, which is where I spent a great deal of my free time during medical school at the University of Nevada, and I had not been back to the North Shore since I graduated in 1996. This was a very special time for me to share with my wife because I turned 56, and I could not be more happy with the experience and the quality of the service and the food. It was exceptionally fun to hear the chef was from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, because we used to live in Whitefish Bay and would visit Kohler often for my birthday. I recommend Trokay and look forward to visiting again soon when we come back for Thanksgiving!

Booked the 4-course menu on a whim after exploring the menus online and so glad we did. The service was amazing and every dish was delicious and full of flavor. Had a lovely conversation about night market food & travels, which we later realized was Nyna herself. We got far more than expected and I am shocked this place hasn't gotten a Michelin star or 2 yet. We will hopefully be back anytime we visit Truckee!

This is my favorite restaurant in California. I’ve had there tasting menus twice, and each time it was a new, miraculous experience. Their food is exquisite, the service is nice, and the ambiance is as expected. It’s a hidden gem in truckee and if you have the time and money I’d highly recommend it. It is worth the price, without a doubt. I had a pine ice dish about 2 years ago as one of the dessert courses and it was like eating the best blue bird powder day ever, with a hint of cozy cabin glow.

Prix Fixe Menu Review
Hands down the favorite dish of the night were the Nantucket Bay Scallops. Everything on the plate worked together. It was fantastic.
Many times you go through a meal with multiple courses and you have one or two that just fall short. The winter 2025 Prix Fixe did not have a miss for us. Each plate was delicious and well prepared. Zero negative comments for this meal.
The service was excellent and everyone was friendly. It kept the atmosphere from being too stuffy, but still felt very professional.

Overall a really enjoyable meal. Had the 4 course and got to try most of the dishes sharing with my partner. Some really interesting flavors and standout dishes. The canapes, salad, and scallops were particularly tasty with great flavor and balance.
However, a few of the dishes ended up feeling a little bit heavy/salty like the cauliflower soup, the soba sauce, and the short rib that was paired with the steak had a sauce that was almost gluey. The chocolate dessert had a great flavor but was too sweet. Similar with the coconut macaron, delicious but too sweet.
The small caviar addition had delicious components, but the brioche was too thick and not toasted enough so the bite was overpowered by the bread.
Wine pairings were solid in general, however the somm and one of the servers always felt like they were in a rush to get away from the table and made me feel a bit rushed during those interactions.
Even with those nits I had a great time in a beautiful space and great food. I'd definitely come back again if I'm looking for fine dining in Tahoe.

Literally the best dinner I’ve ever had. Lived in Truckee for years and have always wanted to go here, finally went for Valentine’s Day and had an amazing experience. Every bite was perfectly balanced and service was so friendly and not pretentious. Expensive but SO worth it! Seriously better than any Michelin star restaurant I’ve been to.
Exceptional food, great service, impeccable pairing, definitely worth one if not 2 Michelin stars. So yes it is expensive but worth every penny (while they still exist :-)) for us. Highly recommend the place for a special occasion (was our anniversary) or just to have a great meal but be prepared as if you were going to a Michelin-star restaurant, not a steak house or casual food even if you are in Truckee.
