For my 41st birthday, we did the tasting menu with wine paring and added the caviar option. Do it. JUST DO IT. Amazing service,the chef even signed my birthday menu. The atmosphere was old school Truckee classic. Thank you so MUCH.

Waitress was awesome - because food took so long to arrive that wine pairings were finished long before things arrived (45 mins for a course). Sommelier so bad that I'm leaving this review -- rude, patronising, forgot to come to us at one point until we reminded him (and he didn't apologise). 6/10 food reduced to a 0 by contemptible service all round.

This place was amazing! One thing I've always wanted to do was to go venture out to tasting menu restaurants and I'm so glad I found Trokay! The chef was super nice and I enjoyed talking to her between courses! The servers were great as well, I honestly fell in love with the ambiance of this place! Looks secluded and like a true fine dining experience! I can't wait to come back here in the future, eager to see what changes occur in the menu and what else they've brought in!

Great restaurant. Beautiful presentations five courses and . Sumptuous food. The amuse bouche/biscuits and the bisque spiced with garam masala worthy of 5 stars on its own. Definitely for foodies to appreciate. The staff could not be better including the owner who spent time with us. The best restaurant in North Lake/Truckee.

We celebrated our anniversary on our first visit to Trokay. Our experience all around was fantastic. We ordered the cavier and champagne starter, the 4 course meal accompanied by the wine pairings. All were fantastic and the service was equally as good. We will certainly be back.

I went here some time ago with a few friends. We ordered the prix fixe (you kind of have to commit to that or the "chef's tasting menu" as a table), and I had the vegetarian option.
Totally props for the over-the-top fine dining experience, impeccable service, inventive molecular gastronomy, offering a vegetarian option and all of that. No failures there. But the ridiculous pricing gave me high expectations for the food. What I saw was that the various veggie dishes were all constructed from the omnivirous dishes my friends had, but with the meat left out. Nothing was ever added in or substituted. No veggie dishes that were their own thing. It kind of felt to me like the veg options were an afterthought for such an expensive, fancy place.
This review is from some time ago, and the menu does change seasonally, so things may be different. Right now it looks like they have house-made tofu on the menu, and the veggie options seem to be on the regular menu these days, rather than on a separate one, so I might give Trokay a try again when I'm in the mood for the most expensive place in town.

Every single dish was fantastic and we learned a ton about the wine we were tasting.Wine pairing = 2.5-3 glasses of wine matched with the courses you choose. I wish there would have been more California wines on the menu (I’m biased!) but the wine did not disappoint.Price fixe menu = four choices with two special treats from the chef. Exceptional flavors and presentation.There were at least five different wait staff we interacted with, and the host, all lovely and helpful.Total cost of the meal including tip and tax came to $635.00 for the two of us. We spent about 2.5 hours dining at Trokay and most of the next day talking about it. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

I gush! Absolutely a 1 Michelin Star experience. The flavor and texture of everything I ate was exactly what it should be. Perfectly executed but creatively done as well. The plating and presentation was stunning and the dress code was come as you are which was nice. I wasn’t drinking at the time but my friends loved the wine and I had a really nice virgin bloody mary. Staff was friendly and relaxed like they actually enjoyed their job; no forced politeness or air of stress from anyone. Honestly just a lovely time. I remember hearing that the owners lived in Houston and if that’s true I hope they own another restaurant here as well.

I've had great meals a few times but today was hamburger and brew which I love hamburgers and thinking its going to be a outstanding hamburger. Salt and more salt in the hamburger and French fries. So had the hamburger taken back because I just couldn't eat it. Got another one and sorry to say still had alot of salt maybe not as much.I don't like having a tip in the total of my bill that should be up to me. Two brews and two hamburgers 79 dollars later.??

Wife and I had a lovely 10 course tasting with them a few days ago and we’re still talking about it. The food quality was spectacular, the service is excellent, great wine list and a comfortable setting. Every single course was imaginative, delicious and wonderfully presented. The chefs are truly gifted and deserve your support. We can’t say enough positive things about Trokay, and can’t wait to come back.
