We had ordered the Peking style duck in advance. It was perfect for the four of us. Duck was very good and the presentation was very well done. For dessert we split a Blue Pear. It was a delicious, light dessert and ideal since all of us only wanted a bite of something.
Finally, a Chinese restaurant that's at par with the finer establishments in China. For authentic Chinese fine dining(palace style food), no other place in SoCal could match Chang'an. The Peking Duck is exquisite - need to order ahead of time. Exotic appetizers like the cordyseps is a brave dish to serve in the Orange County and one can only hope there are enough audience for such interesting texture and taste. Very highend Chinese restaurant, which is a rarity. Very tastefully done interior. You come here for the peking duck experience. Coming here and not ordering peking duck just doesn't make any sense. From presentation to the flavor and texture, it is beyond any other peking duck I've ever had. They even smoke a portion right at the table and it is unforgettable. Their other menu offerings are also great but a little over priced. Very professional staff.
