I think if you want a taste of the Filipino culture at least of the super commercialized kind, I would recommend coming to Red Ribbon. Sure there is the grocery next door and a lot of other Filipino places, but Red Ribbon captures it very well. The workers are very polite and expedient. The wasteful plastic packaging is so classic. My coworker bought an ube flan cake and it was so delicious that I had to get it for my parents' birthday. I don't like ube and I don't like flan but I really liked it from red ribbon! I ended up buying a slice of that to share with my family at midnight, they also enjoyed it and said it wasn't overly sweet. I also got the whole sampler cake to celebrate for that evening's dinner.
