We love the Clairemont location, but Upland is closer to home. Plus there's a wetlands trail right behind, so we can take the dogs for a walk, then grab a pint.The ploughman platter is always on point, as are the frites. I actually went to the wrong location of the Back Abbey in Claremont. The people in both locations were very helpful and nice directing me to the right place. We dined there for brunch and had a great time.I had two of their espresso martinis and they were good, they did take awhile to arrive. For food we had their SoCal papas and added chicken schnitzel. The food is still really good. Took a friend with me for his first visit and he was amazed by the Back Abbey burger and the pom frites (Belgian style fries cooked in duck fat) of course the Belgian beers on tap and on the bottle list are fantastic.Dietary restrictions: I have to avoid, lactose, wheat and soy. So I enjoy the steak salad and some ftites along with my Belgian beers.
