“I was looking around for a cuisine that I dont normally have an opportunity to have, and I saw this lovely Greek shop. Such a good dinner decision! The staff were kind and attentive, first and foremost, which I appreciated. I had the falafel gyro with garlic parm fries, and I was going to have the baklava, but they were out! They offered me the s'more gyro as an alternative since I'm not a fan of cheesecake. The falafel was well seasoned with the veggies providing a bright and fresh contrast. The fries were crispy and very garlicky (my fav!!) with a tzatziki sauce that brought a nice creaminess. And the s'more gyro?? I wasn't disappointed, and I will definitely be ordering it myself next time! They also had some lovely Greek rap playing while I waited for my to-go, which I enjoyed immensely. Overall, I'd come again and try something new on the menu 🤤“

“Sublime choice for my birthday. Between my husband and myself, we had the avgolemono soup (velvety smooth), grilled octopus (tender and tasty) zucchini chips (perfectly crisp) lamb chops (4 appetizer-size because I was getting full by then) moussaka, and baklava for dessert. Wine and martinis. Not inexpensive, but worth every cent for the experience. I highly recommend Louka for the vibe, service, and certainly the delicious meals.“

“Food is absolutely delicious! I usually get the chicken gyro, beef steak gyro, fries, and a Greek side salad. Everything is always fresh and full of flavor. You can tell the team here truly knows what they are doing. My husband and I really enjoy coming here, and it has become one of our favorite spots for a quick and satisfying meal.

I honestly do not understand the negative reviews. Every time we visit, the staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the food never disappoints. This place is more of a grab, eat, and go type of restaurant, but the quality is always excellent. Whether you stop by for lunch or pick up dinner to go, I highly recommend giving them a try. The couple who runs it was warm and welcoming. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich combo—so good! The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I really enjoyed it, and I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from the menu next time I’m in the area.

“I remember growing up in the 80's eating at Astro Burger on the corner of Alvarado St and Village. That restaurant has been closed, but I am so glad the owner still keep this one open on Melrose. I stop just by with my family for dinner and the astro burgers taste just as good as they have always been. Love that original charbroil burgers with that marinated sliced lettuces. They keep that classic vibe and nostalgia atmosphere. Will always come back every once in a while when I feel like a kid again. 🙂“
