perfect steak + stiff drink + hot waiter
10/10
Heads up: they automatically add a 20% tip to your bill, no matter the party size.
My husband and I went here recently and left feeling a bit disappointed. We ordered the steak frites, but what came to the table was actually the filet au poivre. Since both dishes come with steak and fries, we didn’t realize we’d been served the more expensive option until we saw the bill. The filet is $12 more, and when we mentioned it, our server apologized and checked with the manager. The new bill only had an $8 difference, though, not the full $12. We honestly don’t care about the $4, but it just felt a little stingy not to fully correct their mistake.
The dirty martini we ordered was also a letdown. it was so salty with olive juice that we could barely taste the vodka.
And one last thing: I noticed another table got chips with their dish and asked if we could have some. They brought us a tiny bowl (which was fine), but later we saw a $5 charge for it. Maybe that’s standard, but with everything else that happened, it felt like they could have taken that off the bill as a gesture.
Food itself was okay, but between the mix-up, the weird partial discount, and the automatic gratuity, it just wasn’t a great experience.
We were greeted by the most pleasant host. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was lovely. The drinks were amazing, the food delicious. We will definitely be returning.

I stumbled upon Coucou on Resy and decided to check it out for happy hour and I’m so glad I did. I went with a friend who’s a chef (I’m a foodie myself), and we were both blown away. The apps and drinks were outstanding, with flavors and presentation that went far beyond what you typically expect at happy hour.
The happy hour menu is easily one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. For $33, you get three items, which is a fantastic deal. Portions are generous too, they definitely don’t skimp on the apps, making it perfect for two people to share.
Overall, top-notch food, great drinks, and unbeatable value. I’ll definitely be back!

Good but not spectacular French cuisine. The veggie French dip was overly spiced for our taste. Onion soup and steak frites dishes were good but this is expected for French cuisine. The Brussels sprouts side dish was great, cauliflower not so much.

Thank you Billy!
This is such a fun place! I highly recommend going for their new happy hour. It has nice selection of 3 items including a selection of food and drinks for $33. Then try the rest of the menu! All of it's excellent and super great service!

I live very close by in MDR and have already tried all the other French restaurants in LA so I was really excited to try this one. The TLDR is the food taste and quality is high, but the pricing and size of the restaurant are big negatives. The tables are so close together that it’s not the sort of place to have a private conversation or first date and the prices are really too high. There is also a 30% service charge added on to your bill, which does not include tip even though tip is suggested after the 30% is added on, which is insane. As mentioned it’s very small on the inside and gives me more of a bar/lounge vibe than a full functioning restaurant. The bar takes up about half of the restaurant and the handful of tables make up the rest. There is just enough space to squeeze in between each table so you can hear all the conversations around you and others can hear yours as well, which I was not a fan of. Our waitress was very polite, but it took over 45 mins for our entrées to come out after our appetizers were finished. They also have a very limited nonalcoholic drink menu so if you’re not drinking alcohol or water, your options will be very limited. There is not a dedicated parking lot so it will be metered street parking however because I’m a local I just took a Waymo over.
As mentioned the food taste is really great, even though the prices aren’t. I started off with the Steak Tartare and this was my second favorite dish of the night. It had very deep, rich flavors. I especially liked the grain mustard mixed in and thought it really made the dish special. Next came the Zucchini Beignets and I was not a fan of these. I’m not sure what the flavor was, but there was something in it that I just did not like. Also beignet is a bit misleading because I was thinking something light and fluffy, but rather it was almost like a hush puppy. I would not recommend. We followed that with the French Onion Soup and thought this one was fantastic. It was a light broth, not the thicker burgundy broth, which is my preference. I love the light broth a lot more and think it adds a lot more flavoring so this one was a great dish that I would highly recommend. For my entree I chose the Dorade and this was my favorite dish of the night. It was perfectly cooked fish and the lemon caper sauce that it was sitting in really added to the flavoring. It was also a very good sized portion. Finally for dessert we had the Soft Serve Sundae which was very good although a bit overpriced for $16. I also ordered a Coke for $6 so it just kind of shows you that the pricing here is very skewed.
Overall we had a nice experience, but due to the pricing and other competition very close by I don’t plan to be back in the future. If the pricing was more reasonable, I would definitely recommend and be back, but until that happens, I can’t recommend.

Sat at the bar with your awesome bartender Tasha- awesome conversation and had the best steak frites in LA… that black garlic demi is crazy! And that sundae is a must. Might need to send some of the Venice team to make the West Hollywood location just a great, ha!

The food is nothing special and the wine list is very short, concerning its a French restaurant. The service is either too quick (we got our main courses while we were eating our starters) or they ignore you completely (ordered a beer which they forgot). Safe to say, not a good place to celebrate a wedding anniversary.

Stellar restaurant. Small, intimate, delicious Brasserie menu. The warmest and most delightful staff. Just an all around win. Can’t wait to go back. An ambience and crowd that couldn’t have been sexier.

Amazing as usual! Thank you for allowing us to be the last table of the night. The Steak and Frites were absolutely mind blowing this evening. Still thinking about how tasty that dish is!
