Rose Cafe
I’ve lived a couple blocks away for over a decade. I’d always heard mixed reviews and never went because of it.
Today, old friends visiting from out of town, booked a party of 15 for brunch. OK. I’ll go and keep an open mind. Excited to try something new.
Atmosphere - Great
Menu Selection - Good
But that is where it ends. Sat 15 minutes just waiting for our drink order. Another 15-20 to get our drinks and then take our food order.
We ordered (2) flights of pastries for the table. They were delivered but with no plates.
Coffees delivered with no cream, no sugar. Finally cream and sugar arrive after coffees get cold. Then no teaspoons given to stir coffees.
Order for entrees taken, but rude, a couple friends had allergies and told NO SUBSTITUTIONS. Period. No discussion. Not a great way to start a meal.
After 45 more minutes - plates start to arrive. But one by one. Last person- who ordered the most simple meal - lemon ricotta pancakes - 15 minutes after everyone else - finally gets their pancakes. They are raw in the center and uncooked.
Waiter is NOWHERE to be found. We wait and wait just to flag any worker down. They take the plate away with attitude and not an ounce of apology.
30 minutes later - after everyone else has completely finished meal - his new pancakes arrive. Again no apology. We still haven’t seen our waiter again.
No offer to take off bill. No attempt to make amends. For a group mandatory 20% tip. They don’t care.
As we are passing the bill around …mind you we have been at the table 1.5 hours - he is now doing his FIRST refill of coffee. (Still no spoons - can’t give or offer anyone a spoon)
Everyone is over this place and we start making to leave - use the bathroom for another place to have drinks and maybe get some service.
We each thought the organizer had paid. The organizer of the group thought someone else had. We all get out on the sidewalk and are about to go to next location - when organizer asks,”who actually paid?
We discover none had. Organizer goes back in to confirm and waiter says no - you paid. Organizer says, “Are you sure?” Waiter checks - “Oh. No! Wasn’t paid!”
That is how bad the waiter is…didn’t know a $600 bill wasn’t paid. We could have had a free meal. Only OUR honestly that it was paid.
Walk in and get self service coffee or pastry. But AVOID this place like the plague. For the prices- this should be excellent service and excellent food.
But in the end - this place is systemically bad service and mediocre food at best.
Bring your own spoon - or use a knife or fork to stir your coffee.

Rustic Californian restaurant offering bold yet refined flavors, with a great atmosphere and a spacious, purposefully designed patio that exudes vibrant energy.

There were hiccups here and there, but all was fixed and smoothed out.
We came here to celebrate my friends birthday and to say the least the food was fantastic and we will be back to celebrate again soon.

Horrible restaurant. We got food poisoning from their fish tacos. Reported to the Dept of Health. Avoid this place if you don't want to end up in the emergency room. Still, nice atmosphere.

I want to give this place 5 stars so bad. But took friends from out of town to dinner here tonight and it was a disappointing experience.
When we went to order a bottle of wine we were told that our first selections (off their list) were unavailable. Then when the wine came it was not the best tasting. Ordered a second bottle, different wine, and it was equally not good. It was like the wine was spoiled from being improperly stored.
Ordered some starters and mains. The wait staff cleared starters before we were done and then there was a gap before the mains came out. One starter we ordered never came out (charged for it and we later had to have it removed from the bill). The starters and main course food were very good.
Service was ok, but not the best. Wait staff was not attentive. Left a 25% tip on a $574 bill, hoping the staff was just having an off night.
Atmosphere here is great, with a beautiful patio area.
Not sure I’ll be back. Always try to be positive and give excellent reviews, but this place let me down. Not worth the price at all. Maybe it is just a place for breakfast or lunch, not a good dinner.

Responsive to special diets. Tasty food. Pricing was a bit high especially for the small drink size.
Dietary restrictions: We had keto items and vegetarian options with no issues.

It truly is our new go to place because of the food quality, the genuine warmth of the wait staff and the lovely environment. No negatives.

Came here on a Saturday night with a group of 8 people. We were looking for a place with a semi-party vibe that also had a good cocktail menu and The Rose fit the bill to a T. Definitely on the pricier side, but for a special occasion it’s a great option in the area. Service was a little slow at times, so maybe not the best place on the weekend if you’re in a rush.

Have gone there for breakfast and for dinner. Lovely atmosphere, lovely smell in the place. All their food is absolutely delicious and looks beautiful and the fresh pastries in the morning have nothing bad to say about this place. Would lovely go back anytime. All the staff are just amazing
