The reviews are out of date! The store is inside gelsons , not a cafe place anymore and the opening times are wrong!
Love Pies, miss my Coconut cream pie. Met the owner Becky Purcell at her book signing, what a sweetheart. Lady knows how to cook Pies.

$5:45 for a lousy latte! They need to do better.
Always unbelievably rude staff... every time! Not to mention, obscenely overpriced product--$8 for 4 tiny hotdog buns, $7.50 for a 2in x 2in piece of pie.
This is INSIDE Gelson's and does not have the same operating hours. We arrived at 8p and it was closed despite online saying it was open until 10p.
Begun in Los Angeles’ Arts District in 2011, the mother and son team of Becky Grasley and Matt Heffner now taking a backseat to CEO Sean Brennan as the band continues to grow, New Year’s Eve found business booming at The Pie Hole in Gelson’s Market just past 3:00pm.Officially “The Pie Hole Artisan Bakery @ Gelson’s Market,” baking from scratch daily from open until close, it is amongst the usual trappings of an upscale grocery store that guests will find a well-stocked counter, including many items not offered elsewhere.Available for take-out, delivery or dine-in, a small wine bar with televisions adjacent bottles of Champagne, it was skipping savories that a warm Turnover started things off with juicy Cherries inside Puff Pastry before moving on to Salted Caramel Pecan Pie that could have benefitted from more Nuts to offset an abundance of near-liquid Caramel.$6.75 to 7.50 per slice, billed as “happiness one slice at a time,” Chocolate Brownie Pie eats a lot like Southern Chess with its decadence augmented by housemade Whipped Cream while a cheaper square of Birthday Cake is moist yet toothsome and expectedly quite sweet.
Clean tables and tasty food. Proper meaty fillings and very good customer service. Intimate setting with a great atmosphere.
nice pasties, perfect when you need a break from the madness that is temple bar! somehow much tastier and less flaky/floury than the pasties I've had elsewhere, so it gets a 5 of 5 from me ?
No.This isn't pie. It's more like a flour and lard based clump that's pressed (and maybe not even baked) into a "crust" and filled with generic bland tasting filling that probably comes out of a 40 gallon vat. Had the Earl grey and peach and we wished we hadn't. Cannot recommend strongly enough that you avoid this place.I should point out the staff was pleasant but all the two yr old positive reviews are referring to "cozy ambiance", etc. but they are clearly talking about The Pie Hole before it moved into a corner of the Gelson's grocery store. There is no ambiance, and no place to sit and eat. Which is just as well because you definitely don't want to eat this stuff.

Update your doordash and Caviar menus to have all your menu items. It’s incomplete right now and the staff have no clue how to fix it (I just called, Friday 9/10 @ 6pm)
We were in the mood for pie, so we Google and found the Pie Hole. I was disappointed in literally everything. The chocolate brownie pie tasted like burnt chocolate (that batch should've been thrown out or the recipe needs tweaking) and the Boston Cream Cake was full of dry cake (and came recommended by the staff). The only redeeming part was the staff was nice.
Latte was undrinkable. Asked for an 8 ounce and got their largest size. Was completely burnt. Don’t recommend.
Am visiting from Ohio and saw a TV segment on the Pie Hole in Pasadena. I told my son, who lives here, I wanted him to take me there, but then found out they had just opened a location here in Santa Monica inside Gelson’s. We arrived at that location a little before closing and selected a few items to take home to try. We told the cashier our story and found she was actually the Operations Manager. She rang us up and gave us several other goodies to take home to try! We were blown away by her generosity and then blown away by the product! Everything we tried was delicious! I promise you can’t go wrong no matter which uniquely hand-crafted sweet you buy!
Delivery service was terrible from here. Ordered at 6:45, initial eta for 7:31. Then 8:06. Delivered cold to the touch at 8:30.We ordered a few options for dinner and nibbles. Overall experience felt like having someone bring you something from the grocery store carry out case rather than an actual pie bakery.Portions were tiny for the price with the entree pies the same size as the side order of mac & cheese.Shepard’s pie was ok if you like mushrooms.Vegan curry was Trader Joe’s quality.Pepperoni bites were bland & unsatisfying. All 4 sweet pie bites had ok flavor but were a little bit like having a stuffed shortbread cookie as compared to a pie pocketEarl Grey slice was light & balanced. Aside from the trouble crust it was pretty decent.Mac & cheese was better than expected as a side.Overall food quality was below pricing but okay if you weren’t expecting a bakery experience. Again felt very much like someone going to Trader Joe’s carry out section quality wise but smaller portion sizes then you’d expect.-Our order via ChowNow (delivery by DoorDash)- - - - - - - - - - -Blueberry Muffins - 4 count $5.99Earl Grey Tea slice $8.25Pie Hole (4-Pack) $10.00Choose Your Pie Hole | Up to 4-Blueberry Crumble Pie Hole-Strawberry Lavender Pie Hole-Caramel Apple Pie Hole-Mexican Chocolate Pie HoleShepherd's Pot Pie $10.00Choice of SideMac w/Breadcrumbs $2.75Vegan Curry Pot Pie $10.00Cheesy Pepperoni Pie Hole - Set of 2 $5.00Sub-total: $51.99Taxes: $5.33Delivery Fee: $6.28Tip: $10.00Total: $73.60——[reply to Pie Hole 4/26/21 ]———Reached out to DD delivery team and they referred me to you all for help with resolution of this bad experience since with ChowNow the restaurant directly charges the customer. Ultimately this feels like bad customer service on top of an overall bad experience. The fact that your response to me emphasized the low review score over making an effort to address my experience or make things right is disappointing. I chose your restaurant to try to support a local business that was new to us as a family and used ChowNow to try to have more of my check go to the establishment versus the more mainstream food apps (GrubHub, DoorDash, etc.) but your response leaves me reading the other reviews and feeling like I should have gone back to Winston’s Pies since they still use the higher end flaky pie crust and ingredients that we like and feel are more in line with what we pay.
